Dear Dave Fritzke (Dear Santa)

I've been a good boy all summer and with fall coming I need something to build: How about dedicating your website to all Keith Laumer plans?

Thank you (Mommy says alway be polite) Little Chucky

BMatthews -> RE: Keith Laumer (8/16/2007 8:39:30 PM)

Hmmmm.... Do I sense a Laumer Lollapalooza Buildathon coming on?

tri-pacer -> RE: Keith Laumer (8/16/2007 9:04:25 PM)

I've heard that Mr. Laumer designed quite the collection of "Different" flying machines, though I've only see a few on Dave's website.......More Please! Yes a Lollapalooza indeed!

Chuck

fritzke -> RE: Keith Laumer (8/16/2007 10:58:56 PM)

OK Little Chucky (I hope not the one from the creepy movies..)
I'll see what I can find in my secret stash of Laumer designs.
I'll at least re-post the old ones.
Dave

Dave,

No creepy movies here, just a big kid and his planes! Thanks for the response.

Chuck

BMatthews -> RE: Keith Laumer (8/17/2007 4:55:08 AM)

I'll see what I've got as well. Between the lot of us I'll bet we can cover most of it. And Bipe has that great book of his with the PushUp free flighter and the Flea controlliner that could easily be converted to RC.

injunnut1 -> RE: Keith Laumer (8/17/2007 6:08:46 AM)

tri-pacer,
What a great idea, I am looking forward to this! This may be the excuse I need to finally build one of Keith's fine designs ..... I've always had a soft spot for little "V-Girl"? I would like to see everyone interested to build one of the Laumer models and power it with a glow (or diesel) engine of the period ..... as I for one am just about OD'ed on the never ending Cox / Norvel type threads here on this Forum?!

Good going tri-pacer!

Sincerely, Donald Garry

Fravits -> RE: Keith Laumer (8/17/2007 8:55:09 AM)

I'll dig throught my stuff, too. I stumbled on a nineteen fifty-nineish issue of Flying Models, if memory serves, that featured the "Gwing", a nifty little .020 FF with an open cockpit and a mid-wing. I put it aside so I could keep track of it and....well, you know how that goes. This will give me an excuse to clean up the shop. Anybody got plans for Dan'l Boom (gotta love Laumer's names!)[:)].

Reid

Raymond LeFlyr -> RE: Keith Laumer (8/17/2007 1:58:54 PM)

Thanks guys. What for you ask? Why for keeping the small bird fires alit, of course. Every time I get the urge to buy an ARF I just cruise this forum and get my head straight. Well, not every time but it keeps my transgressions to a minimum.

I like the idea of the build-a-thon. Not every step but at least one in the 'bones and one when complete.

Hey, why not a "sticky" for each of the "favorite" designers like Willard, Laumer, Reese, etc. Might keep them alive, so to speak.

tri-pacer -> RE: Keith Laumer (8/17/2007 3:57:53 PM)

If this fourm would let me post a PDF file, I have the V-Girl, one of the few Laumer designs I possess. Anyway here's the "Push up". Not one of his more exciting designs, but, LETS GET THIS PARTY STARTED!

Fravits -> RE: Keith Laumer (8/18/2007 5:44:34 AM)

That V-Girl sure would be nice, tri-pacer.

tri-pacer -> RE: Keith Laumer (8/18/2007 4:50:42 PM)

Reid,

Actually I started building the V-Girl several months back and of course several other projects as well (lots of great designs from the 50's that keep calling my name). Anyway the project came to a holt when reaching for rather large can of dope to finish the wing of another airplane: Yes you guessed it, I dropped the can on fuse of the V-Girl. Thats the reason for this thread, kind of a grieving process for my departed V-Girl. (Ya Right!!) By the way, thats the first time I've smashed a plane before it got off the building board! As for obtaining a copy of the V-Girl plan, I did post it on another form in rcgroups.com. The thread is in the vintage and oldtimer designs and is called Binatang. It's a 1959 FF design from "The Land of Downunder". The address listed below should take you straight to it.

The Lulla-Bi could have been inspirational to the developement of the Clancy Lazy Bee...

How about this gem, the Little Red Twin?
Classic Laumer!
Dave

fritzke -> RE: Keith Laumer (8/19/2007 6:39:14 AM)

Or another sheet balsa bipe, The Dub-L Dek-R
I think that takes care of the biplanes..
Dave

tri-pacer -> RE: Keith Laumer (8/19/2007 7:08:45 PM)

Hey Dave,

How about these? These scans arent good enough to build from, but I know yours are! chuck

BMatthews -> RE: Keith Laumer (8/19/2007 8:31:19 PM)

Tripacer, what is the name of the last one with the curvy fin in your last post? That and the Lulla-Bi are my two favourites so far.

build light -> RE: Keith Laumer (8/19/2007 8:43:44 PM)

I agree Bruce. It sure has a lot going for it!

Robert

tri-pacer -> RE: Keith Laumer (8/19/2007 8:56:58 PM)

Heh! Go figure!!! Seems Bruce nearly told us the name.

There are few planes I use the word sexy when describing but the Curvette deserves it. Are there more pictures of this plane around?

Robert

tri-pacer -> RE: Keith Laumer (8/20/2007 1:27:14 AM)

Here's the plane I was building that started this thread: It's a Bill Winter Krackerjack that I scaled down to 32". I have the plans in AutoCAD 06 but can export DXF if interested. Haven't flow yet, still have to install equipment. Supposed to be for 1/4a but could be set up for electric. Probably won't finish because I want to do a Laumer plane and then a Sterling Hornet that someone sent me the plans and patterns for. Got to draw that one berfore building, but will post.

Seems like everyone on this site wants to be a chameleon.... :D

Hey, I've got the Young Men magazine mentioned in the Laumer site. I'll scan in the SwankyDoodle plan when I find it.

tri-pacer -> RE: Keith Laumer (8/20/2007 2:29:54 AM)

BMatthews

Are you the same person who posted the Starflight picture in the rcgoups fourm? If you are, do you have a better scan of the stab or the entire print?

Chuck
