I have had my nemesis about a week now and it runs fine other than the fact that I have to keep it idled so high that the wheels spin on start up and I have to hold on to it.It will run all day like this.I know you think tuning but its gonna take more than turning needles.I am experienced and have tried for 3 days and no luck.I f you turn the idle down a hair it wont ever start weather I turn the low speed in or not.One guy said to dump the 20% and burn 30.Any suggestions.Maybe another headshim?I will take any help you guys have.Thank you.

Hey derrick,,

I believe I know exactly what the problem is,,, you need to add an OFNA Fuel filter/primer b etween you Exhaust nipple and tank to stablize the pressure in your tank. You can read the whole Discovery thread here named Fuel tank/motor issues.... Again.... I tested literally a dozen solutions and my early theory about the problem was correct and the checkvalve was the answer. After test alot of different check valves I was almost going to give up when I had an Idea,, Primer bulbs have check unsprung check balls in them so I found the OFNA Primer and tried it. And after leaning the carbby out almost 3 full turns, eureka!! now it idles for days!!!!! and it runs better than ever, Just ask around the CEN Support forum about it Several have tried it. Problem Solved!!!!! Read that whole thread its a good one really!!

Order the Valve the part number and picture is in the thread towards the end. you will have to retune quite abit especially on the low needle, since you are keeping more pressure in the tank longer, you dont need the needles open as much, but trust me you have a new beast when tuned right, and wea are her to help you get it right, Several have so I'm confident you will!!

Good Luck!!!

TRD,my man Thanks alot. The only mods I have done is added an inline fuel filter MGT primer bulb and 5 cell hump pack.I will order the part and see what happens.I did notice that when the tank is full, the fuel is pushud through the tube from tank pressure and this was causing flooding so I just stsrted not filling it so full.It does lean out a bit at about1/4 tank. You have more experience than I with these so I believe what you say will fix the problem. Thanks and I will let you know in a few days.

TRD,I just finished reading your post on the other thread and was just wondering if you understood the problem im having. It seems that your part helps with pressurue in the tank and half tank leaning but will this make my truck idle without the wheels spinning. Its like its getting no fuel at all if I dont run it like that. Its the same at full or half tank. Not disputing your knowledge, just wanted to make sure you understood my problem because sometimes I dont explain very well.It runs fine other than that.I really dont mind the low tank leaning.I can tune it to that.I dont mind it being a little sluggish on a full tank, but cant do none of that until I get it idled down.Thanks.

When you turn the idle down does it stall?? Or run erractically?? If so then your low idel is not getting proper fuel mixture, and yes this solution helps that issue as well.

Tell me exactly what happens when you turn the idle down...

When I turn the idle down,it will run as long as I apply the throttle, but when I let off it dies.It wont start back, even with the moror completly cool.I turn the idle back up a hair and she fires right up,wheels spinning. My thinking was if I heat the low end up a notch,it should run,WRONG.I have tried all tuning over the past few days.Maybe a haedshim? One guy said it was because I need to run 30% instead of 20.Does yours run fine on 20%?

Mine and others run great on 20%, your low end tune is a bit off. ok so when you get it to idle pinch the fuel line at the carb until it dies. as soon as you pinch it start counting until it shuts off, if its tuned properly it should shut off fairly quick, but not immediately, if seems to take awhile then you are too rich, but I feel you might be too lean, when you do get it idle with wheels spinning does it seem to run hot??

Check you temp and check your idle-pinch-shut-off-time. If you could get a video(even a cell phone video, I only need to hear it really) of it while you pinch it that would help to gauge if its taking to long..

EDIT ADDED: Yeah I'm getting tired too, in fact my wife says I have to go to bed,,, Try those thing tomorrow and try to get a video and I will catch up with you tomorrow evening, in fact you can e-mail me direct if you like dogman_1@hotmail.com

Pinch tuning.Im quite good at that.It doesnt run hot like that.I can run tank after tank.I know your exact thinking on the low speed because it was mine to.Please believe me when I tell you I have tried all tuning solutions. What if you were me and was absolutely sure it wasnt a tuning issue, where would you look next?I have the option of shipping it back to CEN but it runs so good other than that,I would like to fix it myself but if I have to I will send it back.TRD,I dont expect you to respond tonight so hit me back tomorrow when you get a chance.Thanks.

Tried for hours again today with very little progress.Drove 40 miles to the LHS and I think this guy was trying to kill my truck. His solution to the problem was to install a long glow plug.Fellas, you know me and here we go.I asked him if he was gonna pay for it when the piston slaps that thing and breaks my motor and I told him that I thought that was stupid advice and I cant say it on here, bit I finally got him to sell me some O.S. #3 short standard plugs.

The new plugs let me tone it down a little but the problem is still there but I think I know what it is.BAD FUEL.Even though I just purchased it.After talking to a lot of people the past few days I have heard some pretty bad things about TRAXXAS fuel.It has to be it.Its the only option I have left.I have tried EVREYTHING else other than that long glowplug I hate to have bad fuel when I have to drive 40 miles to get it,but tomorrow I will be making that trip for a gallon of sidewinder 30%.Its my only other option other than the traxxas. This has to be it.I will let you know when I find out.

The fuel should be ok as long as tightly capped and kept in a cool, dark place. I've run Traxxas 20% and can't really complain. LHS went out of business and I got a hell of a deal. However, I've heard good things about TQ fuel and got a case of 30% for the new Matrix. $105 for 4 gallons to my door. No report on it, as I'm currently working 7 days a week. Listen to TRD as far as the tune. He's been there, done that.

Well derrick, actually hearing it run I really tell if the idle is set right and wheels are spinning because of slight clutch engagement due to a bad spring, ect.. so unless you can explain very accurately and clearly what idle sounds like, its going to be hard to help, I'm very willing to try, but help me help you. Getme a video or a recording or even call me(I will PM you my Cell #) so I can hear it. While tuning, it part visual, part audio but also part feel(engine temp). I know you think its not the tune, but %80 percent of any RC vehicles problems are the tune, whether it is the suspension tune, clutch tune or engine tune.

I strongly suggest you reset the needles back to factory settings(NX76 Engine settings) and watch this very good video on tuning:

Nitro engine tuning guide!!

Watch the video all they way thru, then follow the instructions.

I feel very strongly that your air-fuel mixture is off and tuning should solve the problem!!

Good luck, hate to see you send it back this early..

I really do trust TRD or I wouldnt ask his advice. It is as if you dont believe me when I tell you I did try retuning after talking to him.My current settings are flush on the low and 4 turns out on high.I have pleyed with them back and forth for DAYS now.Pinch tuning and all.The wheels are spinning due to high RPM,not bad clutch springs,I assure you that. Thanks for the advice and hope the fuel does the trick, but wont be able to go pick it up for another couple hours. Thanks again fellas
