I forgot to ask,do u guys think the extra will fly better than the yak?

That's a loaded question, they are two totally different airplanes. You really can't go wrong with either. I have the almost 300 flights on my YAK and love it. I'll pick up my extra next week, would have today but it was raining all day here in Georiga. I'll enjoy both airplanes. But the extra is a pound lighter out of the box, from what I've seen, it flies great.

I like the idea that the extra is a pound lighter.
I had a SD 30% yak 3 years ago but i was just learning 3D,then i started flying the extra 260's had the aAero Works 35% and the composite 35% 260 both flew real good.
I wish i could have them both but i just wrecked my Composite Arf extra 260 so funds are low. But on a good note i sold my Composite Arf Yak55 to buy one of these, i just gotta choose one.
Oh well thanks for the info..

Joe
I hope you have fun skiing your yak. I made reservations to go skiing next week but not with my plane.
I would need floats. L.O.L I dont think our extra's shipped today because I did not get shipping confirmation today via email. I will check with Chris tomorrow.

How do you like your 9c super? Do you have 2.4 module yet. I am trying to figure out which on to get for my 9c super.
From what I read Extra 300 will be better and more stable during 3d.

pliebo,
Yes that is the hole. I solder that one closed and redrill center plate. You don't want anything interfeiring with the diaphram.

Joe,
Make sure you post a photo of the tailtouch in the snow!!!

I saw a DA 50 that belonged to QQ and he just soldered it into the hole that is already there, didn't redrill anything. It was mounted in his 86" Yak he had on display at Toledo this year.

Oh man I wish I had brought my camera, better yet a video recorder. The 6-8 inches of powder were perfect for skiis on the 87" Yak. The plane would come in for approach and so gently just float on top of the snow, as if it were water, until I throttled down too much then it would kind of sink but still handle just fine. Goose the throttle and it would jump up on top of the snow again. Touch and goes were awesome. This was by far the most fun I have had flying. Even in the cold it was a blast (made the snow nice and light). The Yak floated in the dense air and engine power was awesome (with richened needles though). 3D flying was no problem since the skiis are so light. Wow, I am converted to winter snow flying. Can't wait until my tx mitt arrives from RCmitt. So sorry for being off-topic but this was so much fun. Thanks for the encouragement Steve. I'll have to try skiis on the 88" Extra !!

PS: For those waiting for their Extras I heard the container came in late Friday and they shipped as many as they could. They said the rest would go out Monday.

I know this is off topic too, but, I'm thinking of getting a new engine for this plane, when you look at the spec's, the ZDZ 60 looks pretty good, and the brillelli 60 looks good too. please bear in mind these specs are just approximations offered by chief aircraft, and everything but brillelli are weights without muffler and ign.

3W50--- 4.8hp--- 8700rpm--- 4.36lbs--- $565

3w55i --- 6.5hp--- 8700rpm --- 4.2lbs --- $520

Evo58--------- 7500 rpm --- 4.25lbs ---- $599

ZDZ50ng--- 5.7hp --- 7000 rpm --- 3.36lbs --- $650

ZDZ 60 --- 5.4hp --- 8200 rpm --- 3.96lbs --- $675

DA 50 --- 5.0 ------ 2.94-3.13 --- $595

brillelli 60 ------ 7500 --- 4.18rtf --- $595

I am looking for something that is light, runs strong with reliable idle, and no problems running inverted or all other attitudes, which one would you pick?

The Brillelli 60 is pretty hard to beat. DL-50 is good bang for the buck but the Brillelli outshines the DL is all areas except price and about 5 oz. It's stronger, and has a better transition / midrange.

DA-50, hands down.

That stuff about the ZDZ 50 being stronger is crock. Never seen a ZDZ swing bigger or faster than a DA.

The DL is identical to the DA in all aspects except price and service. While transition is better with the DL at the beginning, after break-in and change of oil, the DA is better than the DL in my opinion. It also swings faster and could swing larger (24x8).

Tried both on the same plane, all through break-in and ended up with the DA capable of delivering 7K rpm on Mejzlik or NX 23x8...

I agree--I had 2 DA50's--couldnt give me another one. If not the B60 than the DL50
