Pacer is strong as hell, forget about it letting go of those hinges. I looked at one from my crashed 87" Yak. The ailerons/wing had damage but nothing broke at the hinge location. The wood broke all around it. The glue was piled up at the tip of the hinge inside the wing/aileron. It dried a completely different color, kind of amber and clear. There's no way you get could get this glue to let go. It'll take the wood with it if it's coming out. Pacer is the best IMO. Of course Zpoxy is strong too, just a little messy to clean up. I just was too cheap to buy two bottles of Pacer hinge glue since I had the Zpoxy.

Richard I am using the an MTW RE2 tuned pipe with a Vess 23A on the DL. The header legnth is the the factory header that DA sent me. It is a 25mm drop flex header. I will figure out what the legnth is and let you know.

Say Rush, I was thinking. Is there any way to measure the header length plus the distance to the baffle in the pipe. Total length from the exhaust port to the baffle is what I was hoping for.

You guys using epozy could save yourself some grief just use Probond. It cleans up nice and actually holds better and expands better than epozy. Have used it for years now on numerous projects with no failures.

Elevator hinging is done and the throws ended up just perfect for me....55/55 degrees from bevel to bevel. That way I'll easily get 50/50 without any binding. Not too shabby. Like I keep saying this thing goes together very nice. Some of the hinges were cut short to clear the stab tube sleeve. I thought they could have been a little longer so I cut my own. I bought a huge pack of Robart hinge points at a swap meet last weekend for only a $1. I had to use a few.

hey joe, not sure if the stnad offs are the same as the yak, but i had to hack alot away for my zdz60, they are kinda a pain to set up but once they are i love them, i have an 80 thats a beast of a motor, love it, anyway here is a few pics of my firewall on the yak, you can see i got really close to the top but i ran some epoxy and beefed it up a bit after these photos, not problems what so ever with that....got wacky with the throttle set up too as you can tell, anyway, it works even cutting that much out to the top, and i am happy with the zdz for sure

Wow you must have plenty of power there. What prop and RPM? Is it a pitts or pipe? I'll try standing mine off a little more first. I'm not sure mine would line up as well as yours since it's an 50 NG. I think my needles will end up right on the firewall. Anyway can't wait till I get to the engine install. I got a lot of work to do and can't spend a ton of time on it.
BTW, on your engine mounting I'd use big fender washers on both sides of the firewall so the ply doesn't compress (then the stand off bolts get loose and the engine shakes the crap out of the plane). How did you do your choke?

JOE,
I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH BRAD ON THE BRILLELLI FLAMING LOGO, HE EMAILED ME TONIGHT AND SAID HE WAS CLOSE. HE WILL PROBABLY EMAIL A PROTO SKETCH, WHEN I GET IT I WILL POST IT. DO THINK FIREWALL NEEDS BEEFING UP AT ALL OR LANDING GEAR AREA? MY EXTRA IS SUPPOSED TO BE HERE TOMORROW, I CANT FRIGGIN WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I GOT MY BRILLELLI 60 LAST FRIDAY, I HAVE NOT RAN IT YET, BUT BEING A MACHINIST I CAN SAY THE QUALITY OF THIS BABY IS TOP NOTCH!!!! FROM WHAT I READ PERFORMANCE IS AS WELL. WERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO GET THOSE SERVO ARMS LIKE YOUR'S? RUNNING 5955'S ALL AROUND. DO THEY MAKE THEM IN BLUE?

Yeah I'm not sure if I'll get the Brellelli or not. I have time to figure that out. My plan was ZDZ 50 NG on an ES comp pipe. I will try to make that work first.
No the firewall does NOT need beefing up. It's plenty beefy already. And with that glue on top it will really be sturdy. Landing gear does not need it either. Chris uses those aluminum angles to mount the gear on inside the fuse and man it's strong.
I got my arms from EF. They are SWB 1.5 inch arms and a 4 inch offset rudder arm. No that color is all SWB's makes I think. You can't see the arms anyway. They are pretty buried. Only the ailerons and that's on the bottom.

Richard I will do my best to get you the measurements that you need. I will have to try and find out where the baffle starts in the pipe. I cant seem to make heads or tails off of the MTW site.

Thanks!! We run the DL with 12.5 header and 18 inch baffle in the pipe (30.5 inches) and it was too much for the 23A (too peaky) Just trying to figure where to go with either a prop or header length change.
