I'm using a 28 X 10 Xoar sword on a DA-100 in a 35% Yak and I like it best of all props I've tested so far. I do have a 28A vess waiting to test.

If they pull out they will take a huge chunk of wood with them. The glue joint is strong as hell, no worries at all. They say to use micro fibers or something on the rudder. I just cut up some glass really fine and mixed it up with Epoxy. Yes 30 min epoxy is the best glue IMO. These are the best type of horn IMO, I really like them.

can the control horns pull out at all? and is using 30 minute epoxy ok for them?
also what word you guys say about using an Xoar 'sword' prop on a DA 50?

I really cant see how they would pull out. The slot is almost the perfect size so you would have to pull straight to get them out and when the epoxy in there you have harded the entire area.

I actually mixed mine with micro ballons this time.

Xoar 'sword" line 22x8 or 23x8? whats the difference and performance with these props when using a DA 50 and slimline pitts muffler?

Sword is suppose to be quiter and pretty. 22x8 will be fine on the DA.. they will do ok with a 23x8 well broken in.

Personally I would use a Mejzlik over the Xoar.. depends on your pocketbook

Im using a 23x8 Xoar, not the Sword though, and its really nice, well it also on my 88"EF YAk,since I dont have the Extra (YET)!!
I used a 22x8 Mejzlik for break in and liked it alot . With the 23x8 Xoar,it doesnt take much throttle to correct a error.. That may be the same way with the 23x8 Mejzlik.. IDK..

Cya,
Frank

Frank, I just got today 7K rpm on a newish DA-50 with the Xoar 23x8 - and still running Ashless 32:1 break-in mixture.

Did not know the pipe would make such a difference.

I am afraid to think where this engine is going, once broken in and moved to Amsoil 80:1...

Wow I really have to move my battery back to get near the 6 3/4" mark. It's near the end of the pipe tunnel. I have to actually solder on an extension to move my battery pack that far back. No problem though, I like to solder. Anyway, I am ready to fly it again. The first day I had engine starting problems and the cg was way too far forward to do anything well. This time I will hopefully get it started easier with tips from Scott Ellingson. Maybe I was flooding it (B60 with pitts muffler). It was realy a bear to start when it was warm/hot. I flipped a lot that afternoon. Scott says to prime with 1/3 throttle (not full throttle like a DA or ZDZ). Can't wait to fly it again.

A trick I learned with my Brillelli 26.If it just pops and wont start. Throttle to full, shut the ignition off, flip the prop 3 times, throttle to idle, ignition on,should start after a couple flips or so. Not sure why flipping it with the ignition off then turning it on works but it does.. My friend had problems starting his Brillelli 46gt and this worked every time.

Hope it helps,
Frank

Yarmon, Its great isnt it!?? Im running Amsoil 50:1 after my breakin now.And getting about 7200? Doesnt take much to get yourself outta trouble with that motor/prop combo.

For mine I prime with igntion hot.. throttle, choke closed and just flip till it pops.
open choke and flip till it starts.

Once it's hot often I can just walk up to it and it will fire on the first flip not choked (providing it hasnt been hrs since last run).

Unlike a lot of engines they don't like to be sloppy wet to fire.

Yeah that's the weird thing. It would pop only at WOT and it would even run for a little bit...then at idle you couldn't get it to pop at all. Repeat the same process over and over. It would only pop at WOT, but not at idle or slightly above idle. I was expecting an easy to start engine like my old DA 50....this was a bad day for flipping. Makes you not want to do it again that's for sure. My shoulder was talking to me for days after that.

PS: thanks for the tips, I will try that !!! The only theory I have about that method is that you're resetting the electronics in the ignition. Maybe it helps to give a healthy spark. I wondered if perhaps my timing was off that it was so hard to start.
