ORIGINAL: JoeAirPort Wow I really have to move my battery back to get near the 6 3/4" mark. It's near the end of the pipe tunnel. I have to actually solder on an extension to move my battery pack that far back. No problem though, I like to solder. Anyway, I am ready to fly it again. The first day I had engine starting problems and the cg was way too far forward to do anything well. This time I will hopefully get it started easier with tips from Scott Ellingson. Maybe I was flooding it (B60 with pitts muffler). It was realy a bear to start when it was warm/hot. I flipped a lot that afternoon. Scott says to prime with 1/3 throttle (not full throttle like a DA or ZDZ). Can't wait to fly it again. A trick I learned with my Brillelli 26.If it just pops and wont start. Throttle to full, shut the ignition off, flip the prop 3 times, throttle to idle, ignition on,should start after a couple flips or so. Not sure why flipping it with the ignition off then turning it on works but it does.. My friend had problems starting his Brillelli 46gt and this worked every time. Hope it helps, Frank Yeah that's the weird thing. It would pop only at WOT and it would even run for a little bit...then at idle you couldn't get it to pop at all. Repeat the same process over and over. It would only pop at WOT, but not at idle or slightly above idle. I was expecting an easy to start engine like my old DA 50....this was a bad day for flipping. Makes you not want to do it again that's for sure. My shoulder was talking to me for days after that. PS: thanks for the tips, I will try that !!! The only theory I have about that method is that you're resetting the electronics in the ignition. Maybe it helps to give a healthy spark. I wondered if perhaps my timing was off that it was so hard to start.
