6Pack the stop will not always prevent the butterfly from passing center. I had to look down the throat of my carb to make sure that the butterfly was exactly parallel with the throat. If you let it open all the way to the stop it can over-rotate and can start closing the carb back off. My DA is that way. I have to stop mine about 1/16" short of the stop.

Yes I flipped the Carb Per DA's instructions, and I will double check the Throttle Stop to make sure its not closing - Thanks

I'm actually using a KS rigid header, 25mm drop. They custom make them for you, just let them know the dimensions and what motor they are for. Great Service too!

forgot to mention you'll need the header at about 12 - 13" long for best effect on an ES pipe.

Ok guys I stripped out the smoke, cut down on a few servo extensions, stripped the landing gear to bare aluminum and took off the fusalage farings that will take the aircraft for 18.6 lbs Dry to 17.7 Lbs Dry, if I fly w/o the wheel farings its 17.5 lbs. I Changed the prop out for a Vess 22A which is a great looking prop. In addition I added a FASST Reciever and moved the CG about 1/16th of an inch past its reward limit of 6.3/4 from the LE. If I put the wheel farings on the CG will be just in front of the reward limit. If I want to get ballzy I can drop another 3.5 ounces by getting rid of my second reciever battery but thats enough changes for now. Tomorrow my Club is having a fly in and I am hoping to go see what I can get out of this DA with a vess 22A and and change in performance with a pound lighter airframe and more reward CG.

Sorry for the long post - I really appreciate everyones help thanks to all, I'll report back tomorrow PM on how it went.

For now on to a fresh 6 Pack !!!

Ok so today went much better. With a slimline pitts muffler and a Vess 22A I got 7250 RPM's - YIKES !!!, I got a fish scale from my friend and it seemed to be pulling 28 LBS of thrust. Flying was 100 % better than last week, just absolutely insane. I will continue tweaking, if I did put a tuned pipe on it RPMS would be nuts, over 7500 with a 22A or sure.

more pics - Oh and as i said before I stripped the paint off the langing gear and left it solid Aluminum. If you polish it it's very shiney, I also tool off the fusalage farings for the landung gear. It's personal preference but IMO the silver gear looks much better.

The weight isnt even an issue with these EF planes.. Im glad you had great success with it this time.

I also use Brad as my graphic guy.He is top notch. And his prices are very good..

becareful with that fasst receiver, there is a ton of us with them failing in the south west, they dont tolerate heat nearly as well as any reciever out there, they go into failsafe and wont come back until you cycle the power, its a bad deal, there is several posts out there here and on fg's site if you want to look it up, i went back to pcm in all my planes, just wanted to give you a heads up, id hate to see a fellow ef plane go down cause of something like that, i am sure it will be getting warm in your area soon too

What are you fellas running for RX and ignition power in your 300? Are you running dual RX packs or a single?

I just began building mine and have been banging my head on the keyboard trying to figure out which route to take with batteries and switches.

Hi I am Running Dual Troy Built Models 7.4 V 2600mili amp Li-ION batteries on the reciever. They weigh 3.6 ounces a piece and are plugged into a MPI Miracle Switch Mark 2, The MPI Switch weighs just over an ounce if I remember correctly. The output is regulated to 6.0 Volt to my reciever. For the ignition I have a 3rd of the formentioned batteries also run off a seperate MPI switch. I like my set up but the new A123 Batteries are light and dont require regulators which is nice. Regardless I think 2 batteries on the reciever is a good way to go. My advice would be to build with the lightest componets you can so you dont end up over weight.

Good luck building - And so you know regarding the composite control horns, the " short set" go on the rudder, the elevator ailerons all get the same long stem control horns - this is not mentioned in the directions.

Thanks for the info 6pack!

I'll look into the TMB stuff and see where it leads me..

The A123 batteries do sound nice simply because you don't need the additional regulator.. Humm, you just made me think of something!

One Wolverine switch hooked to two A123's for the RX and ignition.. That would make a simple setup with no regulators..

I'm outta here and thanks again. Off to do more research and head banging on the keyboard.

Yea if I had to do it over i may have gone with the A123 Batts. Just make sure to keep your reciever and ignition electronics totally sepreate, do not use reciever power to supply ignition power as well, thats just asking for a disaster.
