thanks for the reply joe

You're welcome. Forgot to mention that you can do the DA50 but you should really go with a pipe. I like the B60 because I don't have the the extra money, weight, and installation of a pipe. The B60 on the stock pitts is just as strong or stronger than the DA50 on a pipe. The pipe is more quiet if that's an issue.

Joe,are you flying yours yet?
If so,how does it perform, after flying the Edge for some time?
I know they are in different leagues and are not fairly comparible, just wondering what kind of performance gap/increase there is.
As you know I have the gen 1 Edge and am in the market for this EF Extra also. Thanks

Nitro. To be honest I have been out only twice. The first day I had all sorts of engine starting issues, the CG was too far forward...I had my hands full. It was work not fun. The 2nd day was way better. I threw it around quite a bit. The Edge is no slouch but the Extra seemed to have less wobbling in rolling manuevers. The Extra had some coupling to the canopy (nose heavy) which felt weird because I'm used to coupling slightly to the belly (tail heavy). I was very happy with it after the 2nd day. The engine started fine and was tuned very well. The CG was better but needs to go back some more. I give the plane a thumbs up. I need some more time to give a better review of it. I would already highly recommend the plane to anybody. It's EF: very high quality, excellent design, great service...looks awesome. I'll keep posting here with feedback as I put it through the ringer.

Thanks Joe.I figured that it may take 20-30 flights to get that comfortable 'just right" feeling after going thru all the set up steps.
I am still getting aqainted with my Edge.I put in a skywriter smoke system with a small 2 cell lipo and a small 10 ounce tank, but its getting crowded in the fuse and the wingloading is getting up there,as the gen 1 airframe was not the lightest.
Overall it still flys and 3D's extremely well, and the Taurus pulls this thing hard, even at its weight.
My plan is to take the gear and use it in the Extra,a bit larger, more wing and similar weight and all the performance+

I'm also running the Vess 23A on my DL 50 with MTW RE2 pipe. Using Belray at 50:1 and it's turning 7500 rpm.

Well, the extra had it's maiden flight yesterday and what a great flying plane. No aileron trim needed just five clicks of up elevator
and she was flying hands-off straight and level. I think the up trim is a result of a forward cg because when I flew inverted I needed
some down elevator to keep level. I had three more flights today and each flight is better than the last. The DA 50 is running really
well considering I don't even have half a gallon through it yet. I thought about replacing my aluminum spinner with a carbon fiber to help reduce weight on the nose. Anyways I really love this plane it makes me look good.

Congrats on your maiden.

I just opened up my pipe tunnel exit even though I'm using a pitts. I'd rather have that open for cooling the engine. It was pretty easy.

Plus it provides way more cooling air than opening the cowl up more and looks a lot better.

6 pack, both models are completely capable of any maneuver you are capable of doing. The big difference is the Yak has a bit more drag due to the large round fuselage and flies a bit slower. The Extra is sleeker and therefore a bit faster.

6 Pack, I have both, and I must say that Chris Hinson is absolutely right. My preference is the 50cc Extra because I like mixing high speed IMAC manuevers w/ 3D! Freestylin to the Max! The 88" Yak 54 is the best 3D machine hands down! Both the Yak and the Extra will land Slow! Definitely use 300 + oz in hi-torque servos and DA 50 w/ tuned pipe is what I recommend, but any 50-60 cc engine will work great in these birds!

Hawaiian I have seen you fly and I trust what you say, im back in the game boyz new EF Extra 300 on the way , thanks 2 chris at EF, he helped me out a lot, great service all the way. I am setting this one up a bit different, I am going to dump the slimline pitts muffler and go with the ES Tuned Pipe, also I am going to tap the header for smoke and make my smoke system totally removable.

Here is the power set up I am considering

2 fromco 7.4 volt 2600 mha Li-ion batts through fromeco wolverine switch to fromeco sahara regulators to a smart fly power expander, all using deans connectors. Right now I will be using regular FM reciever, I have been scared away from 2.4ghz for now.
