Dear Mr. Ladines,

if you’ve had such a horrible experience with our pipes, why for god sake didn’t you pick up the phone and say something? That’s what I would do. I would call that dude at ES composites right away and demanded answers what went wrong! If there is a problem, we’d like to know about it so we can fix it. It really doesn’t matter how much testing we do, the ultimate testing is, when non- technical people like you start using are products.
Also, our records show, you purchased four pipes in 2007, one in April, one in July and two in November. If the last two are installed in your Yak, then we’re down to two. I believe the one with crushed neck pictured in zlin226 post is one of yours (hope you don’t blame pipe for that). Now, we’re down to one only, possibly the one from your crushed plane which we’ve repaired (pipe) for you at no charge. So, where are those “3 pipes you literally have just melted away”? Are you trying intentionally inflate your problem and negatively influence world wide audience on this forum or what? I can’t recall turning on, on you or stepping on your airplane.

Sincerely yours,
Ed Skorepa/EScomposites

Dont get me wrong Ed, I respect your products, but please dont wash your dirty linen in public, you may just get this thread shut down for your 'outburst' above, please pm whoever you need to contact. Please do not upset alot of your prospective / existing customers with such aggressive postings. For me...you just lost an order for 2 ES pipes for my 110" yak, I shall be changing my mind and ordering KS tomorrow after seeing your post.

KS are very polite! and realise the customer is king!!

Well the last pertinent posts were what Ultra coat colors are on the red white and blue extra....and I posted about fixing my incidence. Any comments about those two topics?

As far as the ultracoat the blue is ultracoat "Deep Blue". I had to patch a part of the fus, the color is perfect cant even see the patch. The reason I was asking is b/c I am Red / Green color blind so it makes coordination a problem, my LHS helped me match the color.

>> I will be checking my incidence before I fly for the 1st time, i didn't know it was so easy 2 do.

Well the wind was blowing 30+ km/h tonight with gusts up to 50 so needless to say the maiden of my Extra will have to wait....again......ugh!

I was able to find a M5 x 90mm bolt for the spinner. I had to cut some additional threads, grind the diameter of the head down and cut it to 70mm in length but my spinner is now mounted.

Now if the wind would die down I can get this thing in the air.

BTW Are any of you guys going to be at the Rally of Giants later this month?

It's June 11 and I have only had mine out three times. I keep waiting for the weather to get better to get some more flights on mine. I think I have around 10 or so. Normally I would have flown much more by this time of the year. I usually start in April. Maybe I should be working on my incidence !!!!

Quick question guys. I am using a Hitec HS 425BB servo (57oz.in torque) for the throttle. I just found out it
has nylon gears. I have 6 flights on the extra to date with no issues. Should I switch it for a metal gear servo or leave it
as is?

Leave it. It's fine. I just recommend standard size servos over the mini stuff...the mini's are too fragile for the vibrations of big gas engines. I prefer high torque metal gear myself but QQ prefers nylon gears so I think you are good with QQ's method.

Thanks Joe,

I didn't think it would be a problem. I have to say that this is one awesome plane. My DA 50 seems to get better with each
flight. I just put a new mejzlik carbon prop and a petes model carbon spinner on the plane and it really looks great and
performance is better than the xoar. I really can't wait to fly it again I actually go through flying withdrawls

ive used standard old futaba nylon gear on a gas plane before, no problem, i do like the mini hiteck 225 though, metal gear and FAST, used that on my yak, almost too fast for the motor to deal with it , so i think you can use almost anything you like, my buddy used the 81 or whatever that hiteck micro one is, so far so good, i wouldnt go any smaller than the 225 myself though

Yes, it was an incidence problem. both my stabs were out by 2 degrees.

I'd be lying if i said i wasn't a little dissapointed that ive had to fix this problem. There is somthing about relying on the integrity of toothpicks that doesn't sit right with me. Ive poxied the toothpick butts to the anti-rotation pins so they fit firmly in the hole now. Hopefully they hold.

I paid 900 AUD dollars for this plane. Im not impressed that i have had to purchase another 60 AUD dollars worth of equipment to fix a brand new plane. (yep, the retail hobby market in oz is expensive)

Oh well... i will look on the bright side.... despite these problems, it's still IMHO the best 50cc out there.

I hope that EF gets a handle on these issues. My EF Yak 74 inch was quite out of alignment, but was easy to take care off.Alot of the Ebay planes seem to come out correct, but have many other problems.EF needs to stay way above that type of quality control.
I know when you get a big production run, tolerances can get sloppy, but I am sure Chris is feeling the pressure to get these planes out on time and have them square.I can see that these superlight frames are prone to flexing during covering and shipment/drying.
I still want to buy one,it will cost me a big bundle (950$) and I'd really not want to spend an entire evening carving/aligning new slots for incidences.

Shipping costs mostly...our Canadian dollar is about even, sometimes higher with the US for the last few months.
Yeah, about 150-180 shipping another 90-120 brokerage and taxes on top.Could be close to a 1000$,I can cut some costs
