Do we have an ETA from Chris on this?

I put my name down and more than willing to pre-pay, but when does it land on the bench? Season is about as good as gone for us in the North...

That's a shame. The bench has been clean and ready for way too long.

Might have to go with a 33% and give that new DA-85 a try... I am also quite intersted by the Pacific Planes Extra 260...

Rush7 -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (10/28/2007 5:19:15 AM)

Got to see the planes up close and personal this weekend. The official weight from Chris's mouth was 1 pound lighter than the Yak. The planes are awesome and will be here in the next 4 to 5 weeks. That means towards the end of November or the first week in December. Here is a picture of my favorite color scheme.........................Yeah.

yarom -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (10/28/2007 4:45:34 PM)

Note that the Pacific Planes 35% Extra 260, hardly looks any larger than the Extra and Yaks around him... [:)]

Richard D Bahmann aka/Wrongway -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (10/28/2007 7:26:30 PM)

Yarom, it is the camera angle. The Pacific Planes is 102 inch wing. Weight is 26 lb 6 oz without spinner, Torch 90 and AMT 105 pipe. To go super light with DA-85 and stock exhaust would be near 25 lb flat. At 26-6 it already flys really light on the sticks as most of the 102-105 inchers with [Edit 100cc] and cannisters are closer to 28.

Guys, I was there and you need to save up for the 40% Extra. Sweet!!!!!

Rush7 -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (10/28/2007 8:47:29 PM)

rdb127 I was there also. I must have walked by you a dozen times and not even met you. Looks like I would have recognized your plane............lol. I was the guy at the very far end flying the 87" EF Yak. Wish I could have met you and put a face with the name. Well maybe at the next flyin.

The 40% Extra was just awsome and Chris and Russel just hucked it until its tounge hung out.

How did you like your Extra? It looked like it flew really well. I got a chance to see it fly yesterday and I was impressed. Nice flying also.

I did get to meet the Flyin Hawaian and he was a really great guy that could flat throw down.

Richard D Bahmann aka/Wrongway -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (10/28/2007 9:14:14 PM)

Hey Rush, I saw you but never thought to put the face and plane together. That is me in the pic top left second in with the red hat. I was sharing my buddy Dmitriy's 88 yak for the weekend (with DL-50). I know he sold at least one of those engines with his krazy style of huckin'. I also flew my 85 inch almost Extreme Flight 330L and Dmitriy's 87 TOC Yak.

Mark Brill from Brielli motors worked with me on the Torch 90 and just could not get it timed. He took the motor home with him to put on the test stand and get it right. If it will ever make the 6-6500 rpm it is supposed to, it will be a sweet plane. Those flights I flew were on the Vess 26A maxed out at 5100 rpm. Needless to say no uplines with authority.

My hats off to Scott Ellington and Mark for the "cross over" help. That is what makes this hobby so kool.

I talked to the gentleman who bought Chris's prototype 88.5 Extra and he said he was in love with it. I saw that plane up there huckin' what seemed like a dozen flights a day. Got a 50cc and need a home for it? That's the one.

All I can say is, in this hobby, bigger flys better. So if all all you have money for is 50cc then this Extra is the one. For my piggy bank which is already starting and saving that 40% Extreme Flight Extra 300 is "THE BOMB."

Richard D Bahmann aka/Wrongway -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (10/28/2007 9:30:19 PM)

Here is a cut and paste of my post over in the Giants. YeEEeeEEeeeEEe AAAAaAAAaaaaaaaa aaaAaaAA!!! Thread.

The pics are the 40% Extra and my 29% Never Made it to be EF Extra 330L I bought off of Ebay. The airframe has miles yes, 55 hours of flight and two years old but still is a great flyer with DA-Fiddy.

Max, I had a great time seeing you in action (without a streaming hookup!!) You IC was hooked up behind my trailer. You are a great guy and one of the best things for the sport. It was a pleasure to meet you.

I got a bunch of vids on Friday then my camera pooped out. I will have to get it off the card and see what I got. It might take a day or three. First vid was Chris and Russell flying foamies at 1 am under a flood light at the radio impound area.

I didn't get to bring my G-62/Ecomposits yak cauz I blew out the gearbox on a windy deadsick last month and aint got the repairs done yet. But it was kool than my flyin' buddy Dmitriy kept handing me the box to his EF-88 and AM-87, plus I had the orig 85 EF almost Xtra and PP 260.

I have never flown with 5 hucksters in the air at the same time. All I can say is what a rush!

Memorable moments... The early morning dew filled run up of the 3W275 Hemple 260 Extra and blue sky and Mike (nice guy) craking the air so that it was bouncing (echo) off of the 600 foot hill behind us and through the trees on the far side of the runway. That is one kool airplane.

Russell and Chris on the new EF 40% Extra down low and real dirty. Great job guys. I may have to wear out what I have and go for that one!!! True EF Tradition....that is one sweet airplane and the perfect sceme in my book. (any of you guys in the market for a 40% plane.....wait for this one.

Here is one that won't wear off for a while. 6 giant scale up at once, 3 were 40%, 1 was 50% and two EF-88's if my memory serves. That 50% was threading the line like nothing seen before. The sun had just thrown the final shadow on the entire flight area and that 50% was putting on an unbelievable display.

To Chris, Melissa, Max, and every one of you's I met this weekend....... I had a great time, I enjoyed the camaraderi and think the world of what just happened. It was really great and not anything remotely close to a bad vibe in my book.

I will be back next year.

Richard Bahmann

Richard D Bahmann aka/Wrongway -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (10/28/2007 10:17:53 PM)

BTW Rush, I would have like to have met you too. It was so neat to walk around an recognize planes and people from here and the Giants and I would just introduce myself. I walked up to Robert Vess who was working on his plane and of course it had a Vess prop on it.
I said, "So what do you think of those Vess props?" He said something like they are great but the guy was greater[8D] Good people.

I bs's with Fred Midget with his camera planes, oh the list goes on.

The one thing common with every one of them is that they stopped and treated you like an honored friend even when they never met you before. All of them, without fail.

I have already sent an Email to Chris at EF thanking him and asking for next year's date. That was the smoothest, coolest event in my book....EVER.

See ya there next time.

Richard
