ORIGINAL: TomG3D

Around the end of november/ early december depending on when the boat docks.
available in both schemes and the same price as the yak at £499

Always Broke -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (11/9/2007 7:27:24 AM)

Everything in the UK is twice the price. If it is $100 it will be £100 over here. Strange that really.
Anywhay going to ring up and order one from the next shipment.

rcflyer96 -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (11/16/2007 2:42:29 AM)

With all the video from the huckfest did anyone get some of this plane?? I know there are a few going around of the 40%, but thats a bit out of my budget. Maybe I missed something already stated but I was just curious.

It is similarly priced to the Yak and includes all quality usable hardware. I believe it also includes a matching pilot, although I am not 100% sure on that one. Trust me this Extra is worth the money :)

I don't believe there is any video of this plane... had engine issues on Sat and didn't fly until Sunday unfortunately. By then most of the ppl doing video had left.

I believe there is video of the plane in this thread from the UK though. I did get chance to fly it on Sunday and it flies very nice.. snaps well and flys very light. Doesn't blink between IMAC and 3D.

rcflyer96 -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (11/16/2007 7:52:31 PM)

Thanks for the info.

Rush7 -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (11/22/2007 12:33:56 AM)

drewbags -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (11/22/2007 8:27:58 AM)

Apparently they are due here in the UK in the next week or so; looking forward to my Xmas present![:)]

Jake Ruddy -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (11/22/2007 1:45:07 PM)

They are on the water Monday or Tuesday... should be here mid Dec.

flat spin -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (11/23/2007 11:28:38 AM)

I believe the US shipment is due in next week as is the first UK shipment. Ship arrives Tuesday.

Chris's planes are AWESOME. However, would you pay $1026.49 for the kit alone? This is his point. The exchange rate should work in his favor, not against it! We can buy the plane for $650, which is closer to £320. Why is there a premium to import to the UK? I understand some of this is the VAT.

flat spin -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (11/23/2007 1:32:21 PM)

A lot of it is VAT, take that away and you've got a price of £425.54. and that is just UK VAT which is 17.5%. Go To Germany, you pay 19% or Sweden 25% it is a killer

You have to bear in mind overheads too, premises over here are 5-6 times higer then in the US not to mention income tax as well as the cost of living generally.

By the way shipping is free here in the UK too. Not sure what the minimum is for you guys out there but the kits come in three boxes one of which is classed as an oversized item which carries a surcharge. must be minimum $60-70

I would genuinly like to be able to bring the retail price down on these but I still i have to say that what you get for your money is pretty exceptional.

Anyway, that said I cant wait for you guys to get your hands on these, you'll love em.

While I understand your thought process... it doesn't work that way on anything really.

Look at Cars for example... when I moved from Canada to the US I thought cars would be less money because of the exchange rate which was 1.40 at that point. That wasn't the case at all.. cars where very similarly priced. Infact some GM cars were cheaper back in Canada than in the States. When I moved I was getting a decent raise but if I looked at it including the xchange it was a huge raise.. however you can't look at it that way because you (I) was getting paid in US dollars, but also was living and paying out US dollar.

If you look at a DA-50 they are like $850US or something crazy there.

I know, just wishful thinking! Suddenly $650 + shipping seems like quite a bargain.

I chuckle to myself when my friends complain about $3.20/gallon gas. I remember paying
CD$1.97/Litre when I visited my aunt and uncle in Victoria, BC about 10 years ago. That was about US$5.15/gallon at a time I was paying US$1.39/gallon.

Anyway, this hobby seems to be much more of an investment in the UK than here in the USA.

Jake Ruddy -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (11/23/2007 6:33:35 PM)

hahah yep gas can be expensive there! Luckily its down to a $1/ litre back home right now... still high but could be worse :)

drewbags -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (11/24/2007 9:19:26 AM)

Yes we are paying £1 + a litre, so that is $2 a litre or about $7.60 a US Gallon - But glow fuel would be 4/5 times that so a gasser is still the way to go.

I remember when I was living in the States in the mid 90s it was about 70cents a gallon!

yarom -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (11/24/2007 8:26:33 PM)

There are a lot cheap flights from the UK to the US, especially from now until the holidays. A lot of people in the UK fly to the US to do their holiday shopping. I've seen BA advertize at 199 pounds to NY and I assume some other destinations on the East Coast should be similar. You could fly to Atlanta and pick your gear personally from Chris.

If you buy a couple of planes, some accessories and two engines, you save US taxes or shipping inside the US. You might even find a US retailer that has free shipping. Furthermore, the difference in price might very well pay for the flight as well...

Granted an airplane is a large item and might raise suspicions with the sleepy customs people at Heathrow, but for radio items and engines, it's a no brainer. I have a friend that comes here every couple of month and always goes back to the UK with 5 - 6 iPods in his luggage. He sells it on eBay (brand new) and makes a nice penny...

Prices in the UK are unreal and I do not undertsand how people are putting up with it for so long. I have moved a lot of my business meetings to other countries in Europe because I cannot justify $500 for an average hotel room or $10 cups of coffee...

If the fair market value of the kit in the US is $650, who makes the difference? Even after taxes and transport, it is still a lot of money and totally unjustifiable...

Does anybody have any more pics or vids? This plane looks crazy sweet!
What is everbody using for engine? DA 50?

Rush7 -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (11/25/2007 4:56:34 AM)

DA 50 on the pipe. Probably going with the MTW pipe.

Jake Ruddy -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (11/25/2007 5:43:45 AM)

Mine will get a Brillelli 60 no pipe for now.. I may try one just for fun, but it comes out around 16 pounds so there really is no need. Will be a rocket stock.

Rush7 -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (11/25/2007 6:24:37 AM)

I have to agree with you ther sinergy.[sm=tongue_smile.gif] Should definatly be a rocket. I am just going to run the pipe to quite down that stock DA muffler. Some times that thing makes my head hurt.

Another thing is, if is pipe ready why not?[:D]

Jake Ruddy -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (11/25/2007 11:37:19 PM)

yes it is pipe ready.

Jake Ruddy -> RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!! (11/27/2007 2:04:20 AM)

He has been back awhile ;) However I dont think there is much of an update to give... pretty sure the planes were on the water last monday or tuesday and on schedule for mid - late Dec.
