you should be able to obtain gaskets from this manufaturer and throw a new one right on there. i can see where a surface mating problem would invlove a little more than just this however. i think i'd send the thing back and see what happens. i've seen where alot of guys get new engines and are very satisfied with service from these folks. i've got a magnum 70 that runs terrible and am going to send it back if it doesnt straighten out soon. meanwhile, my mag 52 and mag 91 are running perfectly. lots of power and sound nice! that gasket problem really makes you wonder about the QC end of things at that factory. kochJ .... those engines should never have gone out the door. hope you're getting some service there. let us know. thanks bako for the tip. what kind of paper would work for these gaskets?

The engines if supplied with a gasket, requires it. Because the carb is fixed and can't float with tolerances, you must fill that space. If the Magnum was supplied without a gasket, it was forgotten. Every Magnum I have seen has one.

i asked kochj if he removed his gasket before taking his picture and he never aknowledged. i'm asuming he did because that engine would never run without it...or it would run really badly. it's too bad that there's problems like these...it just turns people away from your product line. i'm sure it happens with all of them too. like i said, i have three magnums now and two are running great and the third..well....i really need more time with it to say. i'm looking for a plane to put it in so it'l be a while before i can sum it all up. i also just ordered a mag 30 for a 20 scale plane that i have. i'll post when this one hits the air too. anyone have experience with this litttle engine?

first u need to make it flat with riffler. u can use any kind of paper. i used 0.5mm thickness paper. teflon is needed, if paper cn't sustain high tempritures. (but this can happen only with muffler gasket)
