Im about to purchase one of these planes===I just need some help as to what engine to run,,I was told by RC GUYS that I would be best off with something in the 3-4 HP engine range.=====Im partial to Zenoah..or maybe Evolution. Do you think a G-26 would be capable enough? I dont want to under power or even compromise on the power portion. If someone could guide me into this I would appreciate immensly. This is my 2nd gasser . I have a GIANT SUPER CHIPMUNK with a G-26 in it and it flies superby. All my other planes have 61s or 91 OS power.

Thankkyou kindly===JIM

Jim ---
Check on the thread on this one as there's been a good bit of discussions re the engine to use.
I'm using an OS 1.60 fx w/ 18x8 prop, rated at 3.7 hp. Will maideen it in a week or so, assuming I can get some details worked out.

If I got this plane (been thinking hard about it too) I would use my roto 35vi on this baby. Easy Beam mount, a little heavy but very smooth.

I AM SUPPOSE TO GET THIS DECATHLON FOR X-MAS, AND AM THINKING OF USING EITHER THE EVOLUTION 35 OR IF LUCKY, THE NEW SAITO 36CC 4 STROKE GAS ENGINE, THAT FROM WHAT I KNOW, ARE TWO OF THE BEST GAS CHOICES.

I've got a Pilot Decathlon, same size as the RC Guys, and I put a BT-32EI Fuji on it, turning an 18-6 MA prop. I'm having a few tuning issues right now, but even running rough, it pulls the plane around really well. Fairly light engine, fits in the cowl with no extra chopping. It is a rear exhaust engine, muffler mounts behind, so sticking it on the plane takes a bit more "invention" than a Zenoah, Roto, etc. and the mount is a bit weird. I think that when I get it smoothed out, it will be a very good match, power-wise.

Any gas engine that'll happily swing an 18x6 MAS Classic type prop at around 8250+ revs will drag your SD around with authority. I have a Saito 180 FS in a 105.5 inch Citabria that weighs about 16lb and it pulls my plane vertical ( not quite unlimited ).

Think this SD would be great in my hanger, but RCGuys won't ship one to me

Actually guys.... can anyone please give me the measurement of the shipping box that yours came in???

Cheers, Paul
