Status: offline 		I have acquired a godly, torquey, motor made by Pitmann. This beast does not require much current to develop tons of torque!! Its current at stall with 24 volts applied is only 17 Amperes which is easily handled by the ESC. The top rotational velocity is 3,500 RPM at 24 volts, so its perfect!!

The only issue is the motor is physically larger than your typical 55t lathe motor. The dimensions are 3 3/4" length by 1 5/8" diameter. The shaft is 1/4" "D" so pinions will be hard to get for this sucker. 1/4 scale or 1/6 scale rock crawlers would be perfect though!

So what do you all think? I have the printed numbers it has on it:

14203C270-R1

24 VDC

12-17-02 (Date code?)

I went to the Pittman website and I could not find this one. I did find the 1400 Series and figured my motor would fall under this section that has "14XX3".

The torque is 160 OZ-IN at stall with just 17 amperes!! That is much more torque than many nitros and the 55 turn lathe motor can produce. I am even willing to bet that is more torque than a Johnson 940 series motor used in boat racing.

Status: offline 		You should give it a try. This motor has precise speed control and the cogging is very low. I opened up my motor and the armature has the iron laminates skewed. The wire is small like maybe 24 gauge wire I guess. I really like the fact that the brushes are easy to get to by removing the two side screw caps.

In laymans terms, we work on large self exciting generators, but with a twist. We're experimenting with generators that can self-adjust the field densities based on load characteristics like inductance and capacitance. Basically, generators that can sense whether the load is capacitive or inductive, and physically move the field exciter into phase with waveform produced by that load.

In REAL laymans terms: Making electrical generators used in wind turbines and hydroplants more efficient.
