No notification for me so I guess I have to wait for the next batch. Damn! I ordered it from HP just after Xmas. Had a hassle with that too because of a gift certificate.

Hobby Club told me mine should be shipping out this week. I actually had 2 orders. 1 was the RDS8000 and 2 receivers, 2nd order was 1 additional receiver. The guy at hobby club said he is confident he has enough stock to fill both my orders.....Can't wait. I still need a 4th receiver.

I would like to thank Mike Greenshields for his thorough and informative posts regarding this Tx. His participation in this thread is a large reason I felt comfortable in purchasing this radio earlier today. I did a lot of research and felt that this radio was the most available for the best price. Now I am eagerly waiting for my LHS to recieve its shipment.
I did have one question regarding this post.

The stock 8 channel receiver is 18 grams or so with the case on and can be operated with the case removed (heatshrink required of course).

Is the heatshrink something that the consumer will have to apply? And if so are there any tips on how to do so?
Thank you.

Re: heatshrink,

You get some heatshrink tubing the right size and shrink a piece over the receiver circuit board, leaving the connector block exposed. Nothing complicated.

The clear "plastic" type shrink tubing that the RC car guys use for making battery packs is an excellent choice for this. It seems pretty widely available at hobby shops that sell RC cars.

Me me me me me!!!!

As I said above, I have one doing a review of RCU on it. I put it in a plane saturday night and flew it yesterday. As usual for Airtronics radios, it was simple all around to deal with. It took about 15 minutes to install the receiver in the plane and set up all my control surfaces. I took it an flew it yesterday and all I can say is that it performed like an Aitronics. Meaning it was rock solid. I had to land 3 times until I got the EPA on my ailerons set to were the plane felt good, but other than that it was a great radio. It worked flawlessly. I did take the plane out just as far as I could possibly still control it to and not one glitch with the system. It just worked. I wish I could have more exiting news, but that's it. It worked and it worked great.

It looks like Tower dropped their price for extra receivers from $115.99 down to $79.99; after the FASST scare, they're probably just excited to have a spread spectrum radio system to sell that folks will actually want to buy!
