... Will there be additional receivers available? I see JR/Spektrum has a handful of them now, including one that appears to be the size of a postage stamp. I don't fly the little foamies, but will buy one sooner or later. Knowing a smaller receiver was in the works down the pipeline would be nice to know.
...

I would also like to know the answer to the above question.

Another thing... does anyone know how fast RDS8000 hops between frequency? I thought I saw it once somewhere but could no longer find it.

Thanks,

Mike had confirmed earlier in this thread that a number of receiver options were in the works, but they're in the queue along with a lot of other new products in development. A smaller, lighter receiver was on the list.

The currently shipping 8-channel receiver can be used with most smaller electrics, however, as the weight is very low with the case removed. The weight of the 8-channel receiver without its case is also given somewhere previously in this thread.

Hey Guys, I got my RDS today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looks like a nice radio. It is on the charger now. I do have a concern and hopefully you guys know the answer. My radio was shipped with the power switch on. I have never seen this before. Does anyone have any insight into this?????????? If I'm not mistaken, the battery is essentially dead anyway untill the first charge. Like I said it is on the charger. Should I expect it to come up? Thanks Skip D

Page 16 in the manual.

1. Turn on the transmitter power. Bind LED should light.
2. While holding the Bind button on the receiver turn the receiver power on. Bind LED on receiver will flash slowly, let go of the Bind button.
3. Press the Bind key on the transmitter. The bind LED on teh receiver starts flashing rapidly and will soon light solid. This indicates a proper Bind.

The LED is on the TX. In step 2, you press the bind button on the RX and TURN ON THE POWER TO THE RX, then go back and press the bind button on the TX (step 3).

Ken, Thanks alot. That is what I was doing. I talked to technical support at the 800#, and it appears as if my transmitter is not putting out any RF. When I power up any of my 3 rxs, the LED blinks slowly but never inreases speed and never goes steady. It appears as if it times out. Technical support took my imfo, including my address and said he would call me back Monday. Hopefully they're going to express or next day one to me or something. Any way thanks for your assistance. It's been 2 months and a week since I ordered it. Kinda disappointing, but at least I saw it. Later Skip D

Well I got another call today from Hobby People. They wanted some more information concerning my RDS. The man said he would be calling me tomorrow after 3:30 my time. I don't know if they're going to try to talk me through some type of repair or what but guess we'll see tomorrow. The transmitter does look nice though. As for the lack of points on the sticks, the RDS has fine splines that goes up the sides of the stick. At the top of the stick there is a "cup" in the end. This cup produces a fairly sharp edge and with the splines creates "mini spikes" if you will. The sticks feel comfortable and I don't see your fingers slipping of. As stated earlier the throttle does have a ratchet but it is very soft and very fine teeth. It is definitely different than your typical air transmitter but it feels good though. Also appears quite easy to navigate the software. Well looking forward to tomorrow. Let you all know later. Skip D

WELL, WHAT A BUMMER!

I picked up the first RD800fhss Friday, and charged it over the weekend planning on cranking it up and programming it this morning. Guess What? It don't work either. No matter how I try it won't bind.

I've used Airtronics for 25 years and have never bought a defective unit,,,,but it looks like my luck has run out.

Well, Hobby People called just like the guy said he would. He said he was calling to verify my information, and then he said a new transmitter is on the way via FED EX. He also said that it has been bound to a couple of receivers and verified to be operational. I was instructed that when it arrives to send the first one back to them in the box that the replacement was shipped in. In my opinion that's pretty good customer service. I called them once. They called me 3 times including today. Each time they sounded genuinely concerned. I want to believe that my transmitter not working was a uncommon glitch for Airtronics. I'm impressed already with their customer support and I'll be staying with them. Later Skip D
