One thing to put in would be examples as per some of the ones on the website...how to use the c-mix for dual rate rudder for example would be nice.

Over all though the manul is great as it is..better than some others Ihave read through

Thanks

...and it would really be nice if they figured out a way to use the stock antenna gimbal instead of having a "growth" hanging out the back of the unit.

1. I do not have a date on the Stylus Module. Sorry. It is part of the development plan for this year but remember, we're also working on a new 10 channel radio, new receivers, servos, an in the preliminary planning for new car and plane radios for 2009! You can expect a lot of new products from Airtronics, but it will take time.

2. I will mention your request to have the antenna mounted in a traditional location! I too prefer the top to the back!

Mike

Nice review of the RDS8000 in the May 2008 issue of Model Airplane News! Five full pages with some nice insets including pilot reviews and even a Q&A with Mike.

My RDS8000 arrived today! UPS dropped it on my porch just as I was about to leave for my Precinct Convention so I didn't get a chance to play with it. I put it on charge when I got back after 9 pm. Will put the RX in an airplane tomorrow and start learning the programming.

FWIW, the Airtronics 92824, 2.4GHz, 8 channel Rx isn't all that much bigger than the 6 channel Futaba FASST Rx. Antenna orientation is the same as the Futaba; 90 degrees apart. But the coax is longer on the Airt. I'm going to try it in my GP Super Sportster EP, same as I did the Futaba.

Question for those of you who already have the RDS8000: Does your throttle stick have a positive ratchet feel? On my new Xmitter it almost feels like there's no ratchet plate in there. There's some drag but it's not very "clicky."

TIA,

CR

That is normal.

That's exactly how I prefer mine. It's a good compromise between flying a heli and plane on the same radio. With a heli, the ratchet notches always end up making the stick click ever so slightly above or below where I need to be to hover.

Since I fly fixed wing I like the ratchet clicks. They keep me from inadvertently moving the throttle when I'm using the rudder. I once had to replace the ratchet plate in an old Vanguard Tx because the teeth wore down on the original.

I wonder if they have different plates.

That's a big plus for me. I always remove the back and place a piece of fuel tubing over the detent, so it has tension, but no click.
I always thought the ratchet was best, until I tried it without.

Well, I'll find out how I like it in the morning if the weather holds. Got the radio installed in the SS-EP.
