What do you guys expect from an intro radio anyway? They try to keep the costs down and you want it to make coffee, cook bagels and play music. Ya want more options? Wait til the higher dollar NEXT set comes out.

I have a Hitec Eclipse 7 that costs no more in standard form than the RD8000; it has both DR and Expo on the rudder with a dedicated switch. The RDS8000 transmitter is no different from the RD8000 except for the RF deck and antenna. Obviously the biggest R&D effort went into the 2.4 Gig receiver, plus field testing and time spent writing the manual.

Dual Rate on RD8000 is no problem .
You should mix rudder --> rudder on 50% on one of the c-mix swithes.
Just set the value you want for the low rates .
Works great .

that is all that is needed..go to the C-mix you wish to use. Set it to be a mix of rudder and rudder...set the mix. What is easier?? I did that the other day and irt worked a charm....
follow the instructions in the manual (RD8000 page 46) and replace EL with RU. that is it...master is RU, Slv is RU, set each to 50 (not -50!!) and you are done. Switch the mix off and you have normal throw, on and you get 50% of the normal throw.

When the C-Mix percentages in both directions are at “0”, there will be no compensation mixing.

OK, I tried it. Works just fine. One has to get out of the Basic menu to open up the full Etc. menu, then follow the instructions beginning on page 52 of the RDS8000 manual. Now if we could get some Expo......

Here the deal on cell phones and our tests. We at JCRCF do not allow cell phones on flight line period. In car or back in pitts is OK. The problem is not the fact they are on or talking on them. It is when they ring only and this is with alot of brands. Some may not affect a flying TX but with all the constant changing models and brands out. We won't take a chance. Now don't chime in and tell us your wife calls you while flying and it is no problem. We have not tested the 2.4 radios for the simple fact the guy next to you might be on 72MZ. If you can't live without a phone on you for a 10 minute flight, then sell your planes and get a dog !!!!!!!!!!
Then MARRY YOUR PHONE !!!!!!!!!

OK....I just ordered one from Tower. They are in stock, but it says Limited Quantities. There is a $30 off promo too. I got an extra receiver too.

I like the idea of one receiver. Plus, I have the feeling there will be a lot of Spectrums at the field this year, I like to be different and I always liked Airtonics.

Hello All Just had Batteries America make a transmitter pak for my Rd, from Sanyo's new eneloop aa cells, 2000 mah and retain 80% charge for up to a year, and have the same low internal resistance as ni cads. So far they are working very well. Contact them if you have any questions about the cells, they also come in aaa. Will report on this thread about these cells as I use them for a while.

I have used and tested these cells. They are the perfect transmitter pack. I only tested them for three months. They lost a small amount of charge.

Waded through this thread yesterday and placed an order with Tower for the RDS 8000 plus and additional rcvr. Got lucky in that I'm getting $30 of the radio, however, its not in stock. Expecting them in in early April, whatever that means.

You guys really impressed me with all the comments, good, bad and indifferent. I particularly enjoyed Mike's input and that was one of the major factors for making the buy.

Used to have a couple of Airtronic radios and still have 3 new servos. So will be putting them to use shortly

C'mon Tower. Kick that boat in the stern.

We have them in stock and I believe Tower has already ordered some more from us. My guess is they will be in stock very soon.

Mike

Mike....any update on what Airtronics announced or showed at Toledo? There seems to be very little on Toledo on the web that I can find. Although I am sure everyone was burnt out after the show and traveling home.

I ordered my Airtonics Sunday. It shipped and should be here Friday or Monday

mike just real quick,

will there be any problems with a buddy cable on the new 8000?, would it be possible to hook up a RD6000super to the new RD8000 to use as a buddy box? or do the band diffrences prevent that?
