Well I guess some of my Futaba equipment is over 15 years old. In Dog years that’s 105 years old and still working fine. I just didn’t want to change servos that are working fine just to try the new radio. I still have some S138, S148, S9202 and S3002. Futaba makes good servo but I stopped buying Futaba servos because they are too expensive. Tower servos cost less and work every bit as good and I just noticed that they require NO modification to fit into the Airtronics Rx.

I didn’t get a chance to fly today but maybe tomorrow will be a better day. I’m anxious to try this new radio.

You will find that Hobbico and Tower Hobbies servos are very "High Tech," if you get my meaning. All three brands will plug right in to the Airtronics 92824 receiver. I was actually testing mine out with a Vigor VS-2 servo that I bought from Hobby City. Pretty much any currently manufactured servo will plug right in except Futaba.

Can someone help me?

It’s been a long time since I sent in a warranty card. I find all kinds of numbers on my new radio but NO serial number. The warranty card requires a serial number, where do I find it? I’m sure I won’t need to use the warranty, but just in case!

I finally got my radio in after UPS had it held hostage for 8 days. Upon opening the box I to found the receiver, switch, and the charger were not wrapped and had been just falling around. Other than that it looks and feels really nice. It's on charge and awaiting it's first mission.

I got a chance to see how the programing and binding process was today and I have a question. After you go through the binding process it says in the manual that the light on the receiver will stay solid. Mine does not, it flickers all the time after binding but everything seems to work ok. Is this normal for the receiver light to flicker and not be a solid blue?

Mine does what Zippi states also. ....flashes fast instead of steady light. Everything seems to work OK though.

Umm, I think that's a problem fellas. I'm at work and don't have my manual handy. When I bound my receiver, it stayed lit with a steady blue LED.

My biggest complaints about the radio was the 3 digit display when naming a model, the small transmitter battery (by today's standards), and the lack of expo and dual rate on rudder. IMHO these are all minor issues. As far as the radio itself, it's rock solid and will be making lots of trips to the field with me.

As a Futaba 7C owner for the last several years, I'm expecting a bit of learning curve with the RDS8000's programming interface. I don't think programming the radio will be difficult, I just need to learn Airtronics' abbreviations for everything.

At the same time, there is an elegant simplicity to the RDS8000 and I think I may end up liking it better than my 7C once I get the hang of it. The RDS8000 strikes me as an "everything you need and nothing you don't" kind of product.

I helped somebody program their Airtronics radio out at the field one time and I'd never seen one before. The radio owner had never owned a computer radio before, however, and we were able to get his trainer dialed in and trimmed out quickly and easily. There seems to be a consistency to all Airtronics radios with regard to programming, that doesn't always seem to be the case with other brands.

Ed,
I think that the Airtronics programming is very good. But I've been used to it. It's the same programming that was used in both the RD 6000 and the RD 8000. Yes, you are right in Airtronics does stay consistant with their programming.

A slight flash/blink of the blue light is really not an issue. Changing the position of the antennas in relationship to each other as you stand there will change that blinking light. If there's no light, that's a problem! But a little bit of a blink is not an issue.
