I just turn the radio off, and then turn it back on to ensure that it's back to normal mode.

Thanks for the help. That was just to easy. For those of you reading this thread and thinking of getting this radio there is nothing wrong with the radio at all. This is what you call and I hate to say it, "Operator Error".

stratusman, That's perfect. As long as you have the two antenna elements placed 90° to each other you won't have anything to worry about.

Here are a few install pics of mine all with the antennas 90degrees to each other. The three models shown are a Q500 Pylon Racer, an Align T-Rex 600 Nitro, and an Align T-Rex 450. I use R/C Car antenna tubing to route the antennas and with a little heat the antenna tubing is moldable to achieve the 90degree antenna orientation. Enjoy!

can anybody tell me if it`s ok to run (2) 6 volt battery packs (nickel metal) and (2) switches without regulators on this new airtronic receiver. I have a 30% sd-yak with a DL-50. I will be using hitec servos, 5955tg on rudder, and 5985 on all other control surfaces. I have been using both the rd6000 and rd8000 for several years. Thanks for any info or suggestions!

Absolutely you can. It will run just like the older receivers you are used to using.

i finally got to use mine.. after flying, i stuffed it all in the back of my truck and drove to the LHS which was prolly a 15min trip or so. when i got there to take my plane and TX in the shop, it was beeping and said something about power in the display. i thought i had ran the batt down in what i thought was a short time, but i have since flown again on the same charge and all is fine with the charge left in the battery. does this TX have a warning that will go off after a certain amount of time not touching the TX? can't find any mention in the manual of an alarm telling the bonehead he forgot to turn his TX off. but it would be a nice feature.
