Status: offline 		It is most likely something hinky with the gimbal. If you send it to me, we'll take care of it asap obviously. Let me know when you send it please so we can keep an eye out for it. I also answered your pm and your email. Thus I am thinking between all 3 of these, you'll not miss my message

I bought the new 2.4 gig Airtronices eight channel radio...with two receivers. I paid over $300.00 for mine...and then...a couple of weeks later...you can buy the same for $70.00+ cheaper... : (

By the way...my new Tx and Rx work flawlessly...and are easy to program. Much, much easyer to program the the Stylus I have.

Status: offline 		I bought the RDS8000 a couple of months ago with one receiver. As soon as I caught wind of the "2nd Receiver Free" sale, I went ahead and ordered another one. Now I have three receivers and a buddy box/backup transmitter.

Two should be plenty, though. I don't know how I'd explain to my wife why I needed a third RDS8000!

Status: online 		Tower hobbies sent me out a new radio and again is the MX-3FHSS. They say they are now 'out of stock' on the RDS-8000 w/2 receivers - hopefully they caught the mistake.

Mike, I sent you an email which I hope you could forward to an appropriate receiver.

Status: offline 		The screen on my RDS goes dark when exposed to sunlight during flight. When I am done flying and put it in the shade the screen fonts become ledgeable again. Anyone else experience the same problem?

I am now the proud owner of an Airtronics RDS8000 FHSS system. I've been reading the manual, and I understand that the two antennas need to be positioned at 90° to one another. I want to install the receiver in my Garl Goldberg Senior Falcon which has an an aspproximate interior fuselage width of 3". Obviously, I can run one of the antennas aft along one side of the fuselage, but I cannot run the other antenna completely across the interior of the fuselage.

Here's my question. Can I run one of the antennas across from the right (receiver) side and then up the left side (opposite the receiver) creating an "L" shape for that antenna? I'm thinking I can CA a plastic straw for it on the left side (opposite the receiver) and run it up or forward/aft. and another plastic straw on the right (receiver) side for the antenna running aft. Will this position the antennas for proper/functional reception?

Thanks for your help on this.

BTW the Senior Falcon was a kit I started in 1991 but put aside when my work load at Apple Computer left me no time for hobbies. I just got back into the hobby 3 months ago. I'm learning to fly with the help of excellent instructors from the San Gabriel Valley Radio Control League who operate the flying field at the Whittier Narrows Recreational Park in Southern California. I am hoping that tomorrow will be the maiden flight for this plane. I have a different radio currently installed and want to put my Airtronics in it after I've soloed and the plane has survived a few flights.

I hope soon you will be able to change your name.

I'm not sure of your description of antenna placement, but if you mean running one antenna on one side of the fuselage forward, and on the other side of the fuselage aft, that would be 180 degrees, not 90. If on one side the antenna was "up" (vertical), that would be 90 degrees. However; even if both antennas were on the same side of the fuselage with one horizontal, and one vertical would also be 90 degrees.

Status: offline 		Refer tp Pg 14 of the manual http://www.airtronics.net/manual/RDS8000.pdf and you will see that it is only important that the un-shielded portion of the antenna be at 90 degrees to each other AND un-bent. Yes, a small straw or other tube (don't use metal or carbon) can be used.

I've had the same problem of screen "blackout" since I got my RDS 8000. I asked the same question back on post #664 and the only response I got was from Mike G. (post #665). I thought it was just because I fly out in the Southern Califorian desert where temps are usually around 100 degrees all summer long, even going up to 115 at times. I finally cut out a piece of red opaque plastic that I got at my LHS and used scotch tape to tape it over my LCD screen. It's a little bit hard to see (I probably need something that is a little more opague) but it fixed the problem and it only cost me about a dollar. I plan on going by an automobile window tinting shop to see if the have any scraps laying around that might do the trick. I can't believe that nobody else is having this problem. Let me know how you make out.
