Status: offline 		The RDS8000 receiver specs and pricing will be published soon, I promise! Obviously separate receivers are important to new users of the radio so they can outfit their planes to use the enw radio.

As for the looks of the transmitter, some people like the way the RD series looks, some don't. I recognize it is not an all-new radio. It is an RD8000 in 2.4GHz format.

However, it is a nice, capable radio that flies most sport models and helicopters with ease. The sticks have a great feel, the transmitter is light and manageable, and the computer is really easy to use.

Online at www.airtronics.net we not only have the original manual published, but Jack Albrecht has gone through the radio and documented how to make the radio do some of the more specific functions customers ask for. The radio has lots of support and we have pilots out in the field, using the radio everyday.

can a person run 2 receivers, binding OK and all that in the same plane. I like the redundancy in my 35% planes, and I am running multiple servos so it helps to spread the load.

Weight's "about" 20 grams. I do not have a final version yet, so this weight is from a prototype.
Dimensions are (case tooling is done): 47 x 27.5mm, height is 15mm
It is a dual antenna single receiver.
FHSS (obviously)
Antennas are at the end of coax cable so that you have flexibility on antenna and receiver placement.

Yes you can use two receivers. Sanwa engineers say this should work just fine.

Failsafe on 4 channels will be programmable. So, you can set the main controls to do whatever you think is best for your application.

I use to fly Airtronics equipment and really appreciated the support that was always available when I had a question or problem - and very few problems. The one major drawback (for me) to the RD 8000 is the lack of exponential on the rudder for the non helicopter version. I simply cannot understand the lack of this very basic and essential feature. I actually ordered one and then had to return it when I realized that it was missing this feature. Food for thought. I now fly XtremeLink 2.4 SS in a JR 9303. Best of luck on your entry into SS.

Extra full range 2.4Ghz 8-channel receivers for $79.99 each puts them barely above the cost of premium brand 72Mhz FM and less than the price of virtually any 72Mhz PCM receiver on the market.

It looks like Airtronics has done a superb job of keeping the 92824 receiver small enough and light enough to use in med-to-large park flyers as well as full-size airplanes and nitro helicopters. Hopefully a micro receiver will be forthcoming, but this initial product release is a terrific fit for 85% of the marketplace.

Status: offline 		For the money this is one awesome radio, especially for heli fliers. It is smooth on the bench and smooth in the air. Thus far I've flown it in two machines and it has worked flawlessly. For the RX's to be priced at only $80.00 this is a great deal. On top of that the TX fits in a TX case with no issues because the antenna folds over and doesn't stick out of the extremities of the radio. Read that to mean that if you have the old black plastic TX case it will still work for you.

Give credit where credit is due. This radio will be out about the same time as other major SS systems that were announced months before. It's got real gyro programming and enough channels to handle governors with ease and you won't break the bank outfitting a few machines with RX's.

It doesn't look too bad in the flesh either, it's a nice radio.

Status: offline 		Release: I do not have an exact release date, but we're CLOSE. Believe me, Sanwa is peddling as fast as they can... But, I did ask for a couple of changes to the failsafe rx programming and to the tx for easy range testing. These are needed changes that make the radio better for the customer, but it does delay the release just a little.
I will be posting exact release information as soon as I have it. I PROMISE!

Antenna: The tx antenna folds down flat on the top of the tx so it will fit in a standard radio case. It is not removable, but it folds down and thus it is still out of the way and it can be positioned however you like it (antenna needs to point away from the plane so we made the antenna positionable thus adapting to however you hold the transmitter.)

Early adopters of the DX7 (based on the JR 7203) complained that it was ackward to use the transmitter with a neck strap because it didn't balance properly without the long (72Mhz) antenna sticking out of the top.

Was just curious if the folks at Sanwa adjusted this minor ergonomic consideration already.

I can vouch for that. I've got the JR X9303 and it just seems "weird" without that antenna out there. The balance does seem a bit off for us flyers that have been around for awhile. It takes some getting used to.

lol, that sounds like a different way of saying, "Yes, our RD8000 2.4Ghz will hang funny too. Try to convince yourself that you like it that way or buy a lighter-weight TX battery."

No big deal, it sounds like a small price to pay for the benefit of never being shot down again.

You never answered the question from Howard about expo and dual rate being missing in airplane mode on the 8000. This function has been missing since the Infinity era. The Stlylus is the only one with this feature now. Even the cheapest JR and Futaba systems have this feature. That is why I left Airtronics and went with JR.

Status: offline 		This version does not have ANY programming changes from the RD8000. So, there is no Rudder Dual Rate or Expo. Future models may have it but this one may not. I understand modelers want this and it will addressed, but this version will not have it.

I have a question. I just ordered a RDS8000 and 2 receivers. I fly 60 -90 size airplanes and 25-40 size twins. can I and or should I run 5 cell rx batteries? Thanks Skip D

Status: offline 		You can, but it is not requirement of the receiver. It's really more a requirement of the strain on the servos and the amount of extensions you have used. And 5 cells will not hurt the receiver in any way.

Balance: If you buy an RDS8000 and you really can't get over the way it hangs, we can move the mount in service for you. I did it to mine just to see if it would work. It does, so we can move it if you like

Airtronics, JR, Cirrus, and Hitec plugs are all 100% compatible. Futaba is too once the blade is removed, exactly as you said.
