I see that this radio has DUAL ELEVATOR MIXING. And I am very interested in it. Can any body tell me if I can trim it in flight with the trim switch (elevator digital trim) on the radio? Will it control both channels 1&7 or just channel 1?
Thank you

metalmetal67 -> RE: *Airtronics RD8000 2.4 GHz* (1/30/2008 9:18:15 PM)

Yes, you can trim in flight. Scroll down to the D-EL window and select ACT (activate)on the transmitter. This will deactivate AUX 1 switch and enable Channels 1&7 for dual elevators. Then you'll have end point adjustment, servo reversing, centering for channels 1&7. A really nice feature and makes dual elevator set-up a snap. A big reason why I love this radio.

OH yes, the digital trim button on transmitter for elevator will trim both channels as if they were one.

Hello Bruce, I personally spoke to Phil at Hobby People (yesterday and today) he stated they are the premier Rep. for this distribution, no one to this date has received a radio from HP preorders or otherwise.......Their projected date is Feb 15, I hope the information is wrong! Can someone here verify these facts? Hello, Mike G.......................... North

I have a friend that has one. I've seen pictures of him holding it in his home. I'll see if he will post here.

Ok, first let me preface this post by saying that I am reviewing this radio for RCU. I didn't get any special pre-release, or my cousin Luigi didn't get it for me either! [:D] Mike G. contacted me last week saying that the review radio was ready to be shipped to me. I recieved it on Tuesday. As you can see by the picture, the radio is indeed in my hot little hands!!! I've looked at the radio and skimmed through the manual on it, but I really haven't had much chance to dig in too deeply yet. Hoping to do that this weekend.

I didn't realize you even had a cousin Luigi. [:D]

The radios have been received officially into our warehouse stock and will be released to dealer backorders tomorrow. And yes, a FEW of the first production were used for promotion (like the raffle at the Arizona electric festival) which is where the two you've seen on RCU here come from. The GREAT NEWS is customers will now get the radios!

Thanks for a great thread here. I'm looking forward to hearing about the user's comments on the radio!

Hey Mike, does that mean FCC approval has been given and the radios are readyfor shipment to customers????????

Also as far as a great thread goes, I would like to thank you again for keeping us imformed. As for me, I would like to see this thread remain open to discuss radio performance, ideas, how tos etc.
Thanks again Skip D

Same here... I hope this thread will be kept open for the RDS8000 discussions. I'd be particularly interested as to how this radio will serve both Airplane and Heli models in terms of the hardware and programming. My current one is of different brand but looking at moving to another brand. Also, would be nice to know if there are plans for Airtronics to introduce 6-ch Rx ... lighter in both weight and wallet [:D] .

Thanks,
^R^

Ida no, even the title of the thread is a misnomer. May be better to use the RDS8000 FAQ thread.

Mike, will backorders at Hobby People be filled concurrently or do we have to wait for the HS orders to be filled?

Thanks,

CR

MikeGreenshields -> RE: *Airtronics RD8000 2.4 GHz* (2/1/2008 5:19:34 PM)

Hobby People is a dealer of Global just like any other dealer and they're in the same allocation and in line just like the other dealers. So indeed, Hobby People will get some of course. We have a really fair and balanced way of handling it so that divisions don't argue over limited stock and that they're distributed in a fair way to everyone.

Just remember in 45-60 days we'll be caught up on orders and there will be stock to be had :) So, if you miss out on this first release don't feel like it will be another year or something aweful?!?!?! It won't!!!!!! I promise...

Hey Mike, Hows the FCC cert going?

Just saw this after I posted a new thread asking about some of the Futaba 2.4 radios...it never fails.[:)]

I did a quick skim of the pages here and saw reference to FHSS, I am guessing that is Frequency Hopping Spread Spektrum? If so, how does it compare to the other true frequency hoppers (speed etc)

What other neat features does this radio (and the 10 channel) channel have that I should look at? (for example, the Futaba 12 channel has a removable data card, pretty neat).

I wanted to go ahead and ask here, then I can look for the on-line manual to read about model memories and such...but heck RCU folks are better than the manuals on just about everything! [;)]

Thanks!

north19465 -> RE: *Airtronics RD8000 2.4 GHz* (2/1/2008 6:56:11 PM)

Airtronics 8ch 2.4ghz has the best bang for the buck $230....Futaba 12 ch 2.4ghz $1,200. I'm sure you'll see more features on Futaba.....Every radio has its place....But $970 worth?

GotSky -> RE: *Airtronics RD8000 2.4 GHz* (2/1/2008 7:13:47 PM)

Just got a phone call from Hobby People (main office) that the radios are coming into stock and SHIPPING !!!!!!!!!!!. As soon as it comes in I will give a full report as I'm sure many others will as well.....

north19465 -> RE: *Airtronics RD8000 2.4 GHz* (2/1/2008 8:18:26 PM)

GotSky, Congratulations! Great News, I'm Looking forward to your report. North

LT-40 -> RE: *Airtronics RD8000 2.4 GHz* (2/1/2008 10:10:47 PM)

Does anyone know about the true price of the 8ch rx on its own? At hobby people it is $79.99 but Tower has it listed at 115.99. Its a pretty substantial price differance.

LT

GotSky -> RE: *Airtronics RD8000 2.4 GHz* (2/1/2008 10:31:58 PM)

I bought 4 extra at 79.99 each from Hobby People when I ordered my radio

MikeGreenshields -> RE: *Airtronics RD8000 2.4 GHz* (2/1/2008 10:36:41 PM)

We certainly can't tell people what to actually sell our products for. I can tell you that the list price is higher than 115.99. I can also tell you that the Hobby People price of 79.99 is the price they intended and not an error.

Mike

MikeGreenshields -> RE: *Airtronics RD8000 2.4 GHz* (2/1/2008 10:39:26 PM)

Oh, one other point. The first batch of receivers sold out pretty much with the radios, but MORE receivers are on the way right now!

And yes, FCC certification came through (obviously...can't sell the radio without it!). I have a copy of it here (even the confidential proprietary stuff I can't show... I could show you but then I'd have to kill you.. super secret sauce or Coca-cola recipe or something must be in there...)

Mike
