I’m about to purchase a T-Rex 450 but I have just one last question.

Other than aluminum looking cool and being more stable. Is it really Necessary for someone who is on a budget to purchase the T-Rex 450SE?

Wouldn’t a 450S do the job just as well? Or, is there a performance difference too?

What do you guys have to say? I really appreciate the help.

All the TRex heli are basically the same and will all fly about the same. What makes any heli shine is the pilot. Having the latest, greatest, and most expensive model won't make you a better pilot. Actually having the higher end model will just make you a broker pilot when you crash it.

I have an SA, they can be had for as cheap as $259.99 with motor and ESC.

No, it is not.

But it won't be long before you're gonna want one and wish you had bought it first.

I have the SA. You may want to consider the diablo hellicopter from RC-Tek. If I could do it again, thats the way I would have went. I wasnt real thrilled about the Trex quality.

Comparable to the S or SA is this bird, but only 90 bucks

You can find the diablo there also. I am running that head and tail on my SA.

That's how it is with everything in life. You get what you can when you can and later on down the road you will wish you had gotten the other, nicer thing. That goes for cars, homes, even women lmaoOo...

No it does not have to be a SE. I have a SA and it flies every bit as good as an all metal SE. But it will be somewhat less durable in the long run. You may or may not end up upgrading it to an all metal bird, in which case it would cost a bit more than if you had bought a SE in the first place.

I decided I would buy better electronics instead of an all aluminum heli.

Your choice.

And at 90 bucks for the Phantom, that leaves allot of $ for good electronics.

My first T-Rex was a 450X, back before the SE, and the XL. It was a huge improvement over the micro FPs that we had been using.

I became a student in understanding what made it fly better, and helped many many people set up their T-Rex helis, fixing all kinds of linkage woes, gyro problems, setup issues and transmitter programming. I upgraded the frame, to a 120 degree swash and direct connect servo linkages. All in all, the heli was quite well behaved.

Then I upgraded the head to an SE head (before the V2 came out).

The difference was night and day. SO much better behavior. So much less "chasing the hover". It was just so much better on cyclic and collective response.

I think that if you are anywhere close to being able to afford the SE V2, that you are silly not to get the SE V2. It just behaves better.

These are all really helpful guys, thanks. I'm always one to upgrade so i might as well get the SE. More bang for the buck in the long run I suppose. Its just hard spending that kind of money all at once. Thanks again.

If it helps I am brand new at the game and it hurt to shell out for an SE V2 but I am learning to fly it quite well in a small back garden. If you set it up right it's a dream to fly and not that difficult if you take it nice and easy. Lash out for a training u/c it's a good investment. I admit I have had 40 years in rc which does help a bit.

Not in my opinion. I say that because I have Raptor 30 v2, that I fly as well. I use the T-Rex 450SA for vacations and learning new tricks. Less expensive to repair when you have a crash.

Again it comes down to the pilot, Yes the SE has some nice bling, I bought an SA First then instead of screwing my son on a good heli and giving him the hand me down CPPRO I gave him the SA and bought the SE. But only becuase the LHS was out of the SA. Yes it is a smoother Heli. I have not crash the SE yet but I got lots of practice on my CPPRO and some on my SA. And i believe any good pilot here would agree they would take the pepsi challenge and out fly anyone with there Sa if they have the experince no matter what other high price heli they bring...unless that person can fly real good to

cant beat that deal and I also purchased the Diablo head after a little experience. Appears to be pristine quality...
