I think my tail motor is going the way of the Dodo. It just seems sluggish to me. All the connections are ok but it doesn't seem to have all the power (or noise) it used to have. I am continously running around with the trim slid 3/4 to the left (left stick) and still fight it here and there. I don't think all the settings on the board are perfect but they are pretty close. If I try to piro the heli I can't get it to stop spinning (not on a dime, not on a quarter, and probably not on the whole damn bank). Either the gyro is fighting my inputs to stop the yaw or their just isnt enough tail authority for some other reason. As long as I keep the heli tail in I won't have problems go side in or try and make one piro or go past nose in and I cant regain control to stop the turning. I checked the gyro gain and from the factory it was turned all the way clockwise, right on the stop. Does this seem normal to anyone else? I would figure there should be some range of adjustment even if the thing is junk

DA,

The gyro doesn't fight your inputs. Your inputs override the gyro.

Sorry to say, you have probablly eaten up your tail motor's brushes (in my inexperienced humble opinion). Still, a new tail motor and caps is less expensive than replacing the 3-in-1 board or a HH gyro.

Try pushing on the wires on the tail motor. Mine became loose inside the motor. The contacts to the stator were not as tight as when I first got it. Pushing on the wires caused the motor to increase lots of RPM. I used glue on the wires to hold them in place until the motor gets used up and eventually replaced.

Sounds like your tail motor is wearing out. I just got back in from flying were the tail motor just couldnt hold again even with my trim full right and full right stick. I have replaced three already and at $25 each I'm tired of it, but then again maybe it is due to my 3 cell lipos. Hope that helps. Does anyone know of a brushless replacement?

Hi Guys, I have the same problem, two days ago during flight the Heli drifted left, and I haven’t been able to control it since then. Today the problem is worst; as soon as it is airborne the Heli starts spinning to the left. I tried changing the gain in the eboard adjustments but nothing seems to work. I thought maybe the battery was going bad and had no juice for the eboard/tail motor, but that is not the case, the voltage levels are OK.

Now, how can I check and repair the tail motor?, I live abroad and the shipping becomes very expensive.

As an update to my last post on here I found something with this problem that may help others out. In the past I have replaced my tail motors and this problem would go away. This time, for some reason it ended up being that my main motor pinion gear was too tight on the main gear. I don't know why this effected my tail motor, but it seemed to. Maybe it was due to an excessive draw from the main motor. I would definately check the main gear motor mesh and try it. Post here if that fixes the tail problem.orked for me.

No luck here, I tryed changing the positions of the tail motor pinion and I got the same results.

Didn't last more than a couple flights. Had to order new tail motors.

You INCREASED the mesh - does that mean looser or tighter?

I see, my mistake.

Now, I am supposed to increase the distance between the main motor pinion and the main gear? So the mesh becomes looser right?

If that doesn’t work, is there any other, more durable, tail motor I can use to replace the stock one?

The best way to set gear mesh is to loosen the motor, work a piece of paper between the gears and then retighten. The main gear might not be perfectly round, so rotate the gear once to make sure there's no binding.
