Hi all. Thought it was time to say hello after months of reading the posts on this site and others.
After a 10 yr lay off after having flown fixed wing I have returned to the scene with an interest in heli's now that things have progressed with electric and lipo baterries.
I currently have a T Rex 450SE which is a fantastic little heli and now a T Rex 600CF which is about to maiden in the next day or so hopefully. What surprises me is that in all the posts I have read, no one mentions the advantages of fitting a U BEC to the trex 600. After owning the 450 and being able to plug in the battery and fly with no worries of a seperate battery for the electrics, I cant understand why this isnt the first mod everyone should be considering as the most advantageous. The benefits of it are firstly the weight reduction by removing the electrics battery and secondly the danger of an electrics failure should you have forgotten to charge it and lastly the simplicity of it.
Forgive me if im teaching anyone to suck eggs but for those that dont know the U Bec does away with the need of a seperarte battery for the electrics and does away with the bec. The electrics then draw their supply from the main battery as in the 450.
Would love to hear your thoughts on it.

If you have the same T-Rex 450 everyone else has most are using the built-in BEC in the ESC so noone is flying this heli with two batteries, there is actually no place to safely fit the rx battery, unless I misunderstood your post. The T-Rex 600 does come with a external BEC and battery if you order the package with ESC, motor and BEC w/battery for BEC

I have used an external BEC from day one and disable the ESC BEC.
