I'm having issues downloading pics from my camera to the computer. I hope to have it fixed soon. I'm getting the hatch mounting tabs and hard points glued in. Once I have these finished, I will glue down the canopy. I hope to have more pics posted by Thursday.

Still messing with the hatch. I made some changes in the bracing and have been sanding to get the fit right. Here is a couple pics.

The build looks good I'v been back to work on my edge.
I am going with a seiko 050 servo but i am a little hung up on the placement of the servo.
Just wondeing what you are going with your rudder .

I have been going back and forth as far as how to set up the rudder. I thought of two in the tail ( not enough power), a seiko, or 3 up in the fuse. It's still possible I will need some weight up front since the material I removed up in the motor box is heavier than the the balsa in the rear. I may wait until I start balancing it to make a decision. I finally got back to working on it today and will post some pics when I have made some measurable progress.

I had my first major screwup last night. I set up the lower rear fuse core for sheeting. I had everything glued and weight placed on the core ( the insert was in place) and left it for the evening. This morning, I took a look to see how it came out. The foam core had slid out the end leaving about 5 inches of foam unsheeted. At the tail end, the sheeting had a 8 inch split. I should have made sure that the core would not slide but I didn't expect it. The split sheeting I can't explain except that I had to use wood that was not from the kit because I have gone thru extra balsa due to mistakes. The sheeting I purchased was not the greatest ( should have known better) and mabey this added to the outcome but I'm sure it was " builder error". I will try to get another core and sheeting from Carden. Live and learn I guess.

Stuff happens, don't worry about it. I did a profile fuse one time and it got a bow in it. Still don't know how, it had plenty of weight. Took me about three days to get it straightened out. Fuse was about 70" long and had quite a bit of wood that I did not want to have to repurchase.

Sorry to hear that...

I know I was a little stressed out on the first wing
I did. I never thought about is sliding out of the
sheeting!

What kind of glue?

2 8711s in the tail is more than enough for power. Mine will do a knife edge wall or knife edge loop. You have removed enough balsa on the sides of the fuse to make up for the servo weight.

If you enough poly glue the expansion rate has the power to lift what ever you have it weighted down with. I saw this terriable demonstration with my own two eyes once. I was lucky and saw something looked wrong with the stabs I was sheeting. Repositioned the shucks and weights and all was OK. Get another core and hit again.

I e-mailed Carden for a price on the core and 10 planks of sheeting . It came to about $80 shipped. You can bet your a** I will not let that happen agian. Flying woodbutcher hit it right on the head. I used too much elmers ultimate glue and I did not secure the core to stop it from sliding. The core tapers down to the large end so when it was in the shuck, the glue let gravity do it's job by reducing friction just long enough. I used plenty of weight which I'm sure helped the core build speed on it's journey out of the shuck. Thanks for the info as far as 2 servos on the rudder. If I keep up this pace ( buying replacement balsa and cores), I'll have to turn it into a kite for lack of funds. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I have been working on other projects so the Edge has not seen much time. I have been messing with the hatch alittle trying to get the fit perfect. I received the lower fuse foam core and sheeting from Carden. They were very helpfull and I can't thank them enough. I have been looking online for a used DA 150 so if anyone knows of one for sale, let me know. I decided to go with a seiko servo on the rudder. I have looked at alot of online threads and people that have them seem to like them. Once I get the engine back in my snowmobile, I hope to get back to building.

G&L hobbies in Cookeville Tenn. Has a 41% edge 540 kit in fiberglass. Much nicer to build than the wood kit. And it fly's great. Check out his web site at G&LHobbies.com he has alot of 50% kits and smaller ones too.
