Here's the rest of the pics. I forgot how big these were until I put the wings on it and stood it up on its nose and stood back.

Thanks Bob. I can start to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I plan on getting the canopy mounting points glued in tonight and getting the final sanding done on the main wings. Then I hope to start on the tail by the weekend.

I would be lucky to get 750 flights in 3 lifetimes. I hope to fly more frequently this season but a young family eats alot of time.

Well my 750 have been over 5 years...LOL

DO you fly at Windingbrook? I used to fly there with Steve Swahn but have not been back in a few years.

One thing we did on those hardwood plates was to drill a hole near each corner and into the foam a few inches and then Probonded a sharpened dowel into each hole. The idea was to minimize the risk of pulling the plate out of the wing when tensioning the wing to the fuse and during any drastic aerobatics - blenders .... Just a thought.

Best of luck,

Please say hello to Steve if you know/see him.

Hi Dave.

Yes, I do fly at Windingbrook. I have been a member for about 4-5 years. I love that field. Steve is still a member and I see him every now and then ( he's a good guy). He offered to help with any questions I had with the edge but I have been able to use other threads to find my answers. As far as the wing plates, I plan on drilling holes on an angle and then using the dowels like you mentioned. I appreciate the tip.

I finally got to the Edge the last couple evenings. Parts for the snowmobile came in this past saturday so I spent time finishing that project to get it out of the way and make room for the plane. For the hell of it, here's a pic of the engine finally in the sled.

Here are a few pics of some of the work I did the last couple evenings. I am real happy with the way the hatch fits. The canopy looks to be close with a little more sanding and trimming needed to gets things looking decent before I glue it on. I made up the two tabs that secure the hatch in the front and glued them to the fuse. I drilled three holes in each and will peg them with dowels for alittle extra strength. I also have the four other hardwood blocks for securing the hatch glued into the fuse ( holes drilled first) and also glued the hatch tabs on and may peg those also but I have not drilled the holes yet.

I put a "floor" and a " dash" in the cockpit. I was going to keep it open but liked the finished look better. I plan on painting the cockpit a light grey color and leaving it at that. Nice and simple. I did the final trimming on the canopy and got a good fit. Once the paint dries, I will glue the canopy to the hatch for good. If anyone has a suggestion for a type of glue to use for this process, let me know. I don't want to have to add any screws to hold the canopy down and want something that has alittle setup time so I can get it right the first time.
I also glued the turtle deck to the fuse. The deck had " expanded slightly" while it sat in the garage so getting everything lined up and looking decent before the glue set was a real pain in the a*s but it came out good and the fit between it and the hatch is also good. This area of the plane has taken alot of time and I can't wait to get it finished so I can move on. Here are some pics.
