Not familier with this motor, I take it it is just a bit smaller than the ST 3250?

Will it pull a Midwest Super Stinker? Weight without fuel should be 12 1/2 to 13 lb's

Recomended prop??

Will Definitly Pull The Super Stinker. 18 x 8 Or 18 x 10 For A Little Speed Or 20 x 6 For Looks And A Little Vertical. Would Suggest Low Or No Nitro Fuel (FAI) It Will Run Just As Good And Last A Lot Longer. Hope This Helps.

I'm running a ST2500 on a 1/4 scale Kanke Monocoupe which probably weighs in the neighborhood of 14 pounds. The ST will almost allow the Monocoupe to hover. Not scale but fun!

PS - The 2500 is 1.5 cu/in while the 3000 is 1.8 cu/in.

For $124 with mount, aluminum spinner, and bisson "pitts" muffler, I think I have found my motor.

Thank You Guy's.

Make sure to use Super Tiger fuel. No nitro and low oil.

Byron makes it.

FAI refers to the nitro content in the fuel, not the oil %. FAI fuel is 0% nitro, that is only lubricant and methanol.

Try to find the original user manual and use the oil percentage recommended therein. Some of the older STs did use low oil content, but not all of them and you certainly don't want to damage that engine. FWIW, my large Mokis (1.80 and 2.10) use 17% to 20% oil which has to be part castor.

Here is the manual for the 3250. It says 15% oil for break-in and 10-12% after. (see page 13) http://manuals.hobbico.com/sup/supg0268-manual-v1_1.pdf

The old Supertigers (2000/2500/3000) do not like much oil. It makes them run hotter believe it or not. I run 10 -15% nitro and a combination of 10% castor/ 2% synthetic oils.

I ran one for some years in a Midwest Extra 300. The only combination that yielded consisitent good power and reliability was a Hangar 9 Heli Performance plug (the number 3?) with Powermaster fuel for the big Tigers. For the price you can't beat it, so long as you can get it adjusted properly and feed it fuel it likes.

I'm having problem getting my ST 2500 to run. It seems to run fine until I take the glow heater off, then it quickly loses it. I haven't been able to find the recomended fuel and am using my 15% with 18% oil-part synthetic. Would that cause this problem?

Another issue is that the muffler keeps vibrating off! I have cleaned the threads and used locktite and lockwashers and the longest bolts that will fit, to no avail. I'd like to maiden my new giant Aeromaster but the motor isn't helping out.

Azzir, it's really important to run the correct fuel in these motors. For some reason, lots of modelers in the US like to under-prop these well designed engines, load on the oil, and throw in nitro for good measure...
Excess oil causes a pre-ignition condition, head temps then increase until the plug quits plugging. Bad. Heed Warhwk, Chad and IFLY's posts.

It's easy to mix your own fuel, find an off-road cycle or go-cart shop that sells methanol, cut it w/ 10-12% castor. Pre-mixed fuels work ok, but tend to have too much oil (good for break-in tho). Hope this helps.

John

I use 15% Powermaster with an APC 20x8 prop and the same OS plug for the last 2 years. No problems at all.

I had a 3250, it did not like any nitro, and had to have LARGE fuel line...standard would not do it.

i have had and still do fly these st 3000's the fuel i use is 0 nitro with 18-20% castor, a 20x6 prop seems to be just the right prop for my type of flying, i currently have one of these engines on a 1/4 scale fokker tripe at 17 lbs. just dont try to lean it out to get all you can get out of it, they love to be a bit rich
i have also found that if you hand prop and try to use 10% nitro they will tend to bite ya
