Hey everyone,

I'm cutting my losses with this NX26 engine. I need some reccomendations on what .21's may fit the matrix that would be Very Reasonable in price. In other words...I'm working on a strict budget.

Thanks!

I like the RTR engine that is on the CEN Arena. Its a SH.28, easy to tune, holds a tune and is fast... But for racing there are several choices in the .21 size range. For a budget engine, I will let someone else answer that one.

Good Luck and very sorry for your problems with your NX26 they are abit harder to tune.. BTW wanna sell it?? PM me with an offer..

Fellahs...
I had to barge this post because I am having all of the same probs and issues as many others on this and the CEN web forum with my NX-26... I know they (CEN) monitors these forums. WHY in the world does CEN not do something to remedy the issues that so many people are having with these engines? The Matrix is obviously an amazing buggy. I love it and I really have no desire for any other buggy but this engine is taking some of the fun out of it. Noone is asking for free this or that or replacements of thousands of engines. I would be stoked if CEN addressed the issues with this engine as a service to future consumers and to send the message to those already invested in CEN that they want to keep our business and are a very connected and reactive company. No bad mouthing here. I will be buying an Arena in a matter of weeks. I am into CEN and its products. This is honest feedback from a frustrated consumer and relative noobie (I HATE THAT WORD) to the sport. Just though I would share. New tires, wheels, fuel and wing for me at the track tonight. Hopefully the engine runs ok.

I have to agree. The nx.26 is not the easiest engine. Once you get it dialed in its not bad. I put the .28sh motor in a customers with a few mods, and it is killer fast. Actually with the gearing, it is a bit to fast. Way to much low end.
Are you looking for a pullstart .21? Bump start? Or roto start.

Any .21 should bolt right into youer matrix. a couple of engine companies to think of are O.S. and Novarossi both tune in and you don't have to touch them again for a long time. I personnely haven't tried the new os .21 but I do know my novarossi rex .21 just flies in my matrix with the stock gearing. It is an awsome motor.

Is the novarossi rex .21 a roto start engine? Love to have one of those. Can't stand the pull-start and I'm in-experienced with starter boxes.

Thanks.

Hey, what do you guys think of this engine. Cheap, practical...and from my experience with O.S. reliable

I have one Yankee and I gotta tell you, I'm not impressed. 2 gallons of 20% in it and I already need a new piston and sleeve. Maybe I just got a bad one. Just my 2 cents.

I have not run that os engine. All the os engines i have ever owned last for at least 2 years of racing and bashing. I have run into other people who have the same engine and theres don't last as long as mine. I think a lot has to do with the break-in I have special ways I Break them in, and I don't follow the break in procedure in the owners manual. that is my 2 cents.

Yankeesuave,
all the novarissi's i have seen are starter box only. the matrix isn't real hard to set up for a starter box. If you decide to go that way pm me or post on here and I will gladly help you set your matrix up for it.

IF you looking to save money, there is no better deal out there then the Novarossi N21B. This motor runs for $174.99 at AMAIN and it has shocked the hell outta me. I seen someone at my track running one and couldnt believe the performance for such a low price so I decided to buy one myself and sure enough I got similar performance out of mine. It did take about 10 tanks until it finally woke up.

If not , I would probably run a O.S. Max 21VZ-B V-Spec-T or Novarossi RX21P5XS, both of which are still under $300

If you really want fast and easy to tune engines start here and work your way up. I have tried nova's and RB's and Werks is by far my favorite. Also the matrix buggy and truggy are very easy to use with no mods with the Ofna Chrome Top Starter Box you can use the Cen flywheel that came with the kits or RTR's.

go novarossi i have the rex R21BF, which i believe is one level up from the Novarossi N21B. the biggest difference i see is n21 is 3 port and my rex is 6 port. I love my rex r21bf, the only problem i am having is the tracks around here are hard packed clay and very dry. So i am having problems keeping the wheels from spinning, but I am getting there it is going to insanely fast once i get it to hook up, because she flies while spinning the tires. So the N21 might be just right. if you bye the rossi follow the recommended pipes that a-main lists. the ofna one will give it a lot of low end grunt without sacraficing the top end on these motors.

great motor for the money. OS motors are decent motors. My son has one on his buggy and it rips. No problems at all.
