Go with your feeling young Skywalker and buy the 150, like you said " It's only money".

Glad to hear the 60 hovers better, finally getting a chance to fly it today.

BUY, BUY, BUY,

My new Twist 150 Jr. that's replacing his father after his early death is ready to go. But my Wife told me if I crash this one there will be no more Twists in my future. At least not the near future. If I can prove to her supersticious ( terrible spelling I know) side that the Twist is not just a bad Omen for me I'll be able to get more. I need to finish out this season without anymore Twist crashes. I just am not comfortable trimming it on the first flight. I like many pilots in our club have the Club Instructor take the first flight. Then it will be all mine. Of course he isn't available right now and I want to fly. I've even waxed the darned thing I love it so much. I hope he calls me today if he can get out to the field to fly it. GWARREN2, sorry about your Twist 40.

I want to fly my baby,

Gibbs

The 60 is is reaaly nice but I need more power than the 91 4 stroke has ( possible 120 in the future)

The 40 with a 61TT is AWSOME!!!!!! FANTASTIC PLANE

GWARREN,

I put a Super Tigre .75 2-stroke in mine because that is why I bought the 60 first instead of the 150. I had the engine lying around and madfe a mistake when ordering servos and ordered a dozen S3004's instead of 7. I had a receiver and everything except the ARF. Anyway the .75 flew that thing like it was on fire. If your set on a 4 stroke get the Saito 1.00. It should do the trick. Use a wide APC prop with a 4 pitch and the length plus 1" that the Saito instructions call for.

Which size prop are you using on your 91 4 stroke on the twist 60?

The Prop I have on now is a 13X6 for break in. I like the 91 4 stroke for the plane, it has enough power for everything that I intend to do. I also have a ST75 that run real well that would make it a little more hostile ( like the TT61 on the 40 ). The other props that I have are 12X8 & 14X8 MA K'S that I have not tried yet.

A friend at the field suggested a gasser evo 26 for the 150. any thoughts on set up??????

That prop is a bit small for the 91. I use an apc 15x4 on my 91 4 stroke on the twist 60 with good results - the 8 pitch props are normally considered too much for this type of plane / flying.

The 13X6 is recomended for break-in. I will try the 15X4 this week.
thanks for the info.

GWARREN2,

Multiply the diameter by the pitch and you will see that using the 15x4 will reduce RPM's and won't hurt the engine during break-in.

15x4=60
13x6=78

With the 15x4 you will get much more torque and you will be able to fly slower. Also get the 15x4 Wide APC prop and the width will act as an air break during landings to make them slower and gentler. The wide prop will also shorten your takeoff roll.

JMHO,

Gibbs

Doah!! This happened to me....don't let it happen to you! Was hovering about 15' up and my wonderful four stroke engine decided to call it quits. This same engine caused a Topflite Cessna 182 Skylane to eat dirt about a year ago. Got to get that thing out of there, fix the plane, and go with something more reliable...the engine in the picture just isn't cutting it. Probably gonna move up to a Saito 100. Never had any problem with them and I own several. This engine that let me down (literally) seems to be extrmely sensative to temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, global warming, etc. etc.
I may now take the plunge and get the 150 size so that I can use a nice reliable gasser on it....battery or magneto....all reliable.

BTW....This engine has a looong record of dead sticks, I just couldn't save it this time. Engine coming out...I'm moving on.

During break-in, Load is causes more friction than RPM. If the engine is lightly loaded while it is tight, it will keep cooler and have a better chance to seat the rings and other parts without gauling. JMHO

outacontrol41,

Are you planning on fixing the 60 size. It looks like the old backbone got another victim. The rest of the plane looks OK, is it?

The Saito 180 sure has been good to me. You might consider getting one for the 150. I don't have a ton of flights on it yet but I haven't had any deadsticks. The guy at the LHS told me I'd need an onboard glow driver and a fuel pump, but I haven't been using either and it's run awesome. It also sounds like a Harley Davidson.
