LOL Hell with it just hack the front off and rebuild. Maybe that is what i should have done but i'm taking the slow easy approch choping a little off at a time. trying to save the integrety of the plane. and i will reinforce it with glass after i get it all carved out the way i like it. But have to give you credit for just going for it like that. Outacontrol now i know why you have that name.

The firewall needed help....bad...so I got outacontrol and completely got rid of it. I'll have a nice piece of 1/2'' ply with triangle stock epoxied to the inner side and now have the luxury of bolting the engine directly to the firewall. Does it get any better than that? When I get done you'll never know I messed with the integrety of my plane...it will look like a factory job. Never done anything half-a$$ed...always jumped into it both feet running.

I'm sure it will be awsome i didnt mean that you messed up the intergrity. If anything it will be stronger then the manufactured version. Looks like a good plan. I probably should do the same thing but i'm not that good a builder yet. I think its agood idea cause you got rid of the old firewall with all those dam inserts in it which, i do think weaken the peice of wood alot. I'm going to try and glass over them when i get the longer standoffs and get ready to mount the engine. Hopefully that will reinforce the firewall enough to prevent it from any damage from vibrations from the engine.

Trapped...trapped in an expensive world we call RC. Hooked. No way out. Like a prisoner held captive in the hobby store with the only way out is if you buy something. A prisoner of my own wants and desires...not neccesarily my needs. As I make my way out after my purchase...the warden gives me a smile...he knows I'll be back.
Dear fellow inmates,
I spent a couple hours last night working on the Twist 150 and I have the firewall ready for action. Should start to make real progress now....as I try to make the time to move on.

Very nice job on that firewall. I'm still wating for stadoffs for my engine and it doesnt look like it going to happen very fast. I'm getting real close to doing the same thing just hacking the firewall off and making my own. I'll wait a little longer Starting to wish i would have purchased a diferent engine. seems this manufacture takes forever to ship anything.

link...if you do go that route...I mean hack the firewall, don't be afraid to ask questions. I did a very simple and fast report. When you go to install the OEM tank you've got to adjust some more things. There's more to it than meets the eye. I prefer to do 3D stuff so standoffs, which makes the weight of the engine shift forward obviously, would do me no good since I'm shooting for slightly tail-heavy for 3D. This plane promises to be the best funfly I own...and now, best of all,....I'm cookin' with gas!!

If i hack the fire wall and cheeks i wouldnt use the standoffs the only reason i ordered standoff was to get the prop out far enough past the cheeks. the supplied standoffs with the engine are an inch and werent long enough. so i ordered the 2 inch standoffs but seems the manufacture is backed up on orders and is having issues getting supplies i guess. But i can wait i have the 40 and other planes to fly. This one is more of a winter project of sorts wanted to try something different. I usually go with the recomended equipment for the plane. But i needed a challenge so choose to try and modify this plane with a different engine and keep the cheeks on it if possable.
So far have managed to carve out the cheeks enough to mount the engine but need the longer standoffs to get the clearance for the prop. But if i'm unable to get the standoffs for some reason i will have no choice but to remove the cheeks and use the shorter standoffs supplied with the engine. And if i'm gonna do that then i probably should mod the fire wall as well.
But i'm hoping the standoffs come and i'm able to keep the cheeks. Guess time will tell.

I have purchased the twist 150 also and I'm trying to decide on a engine. I really like the looks of the evo26GT with that pipe. This is a new area for me, most of my flying has been smaller electrics. I am used to fairly aggressive verticle with my electrics and I'm a little worrried about how well this engine is going to go up. I know the glow would do the trick but I really want to go gas. I haven't seen any one comment on how well this engine plane combination really does. Can anybody comment on this for me. Any input would be appreciated.

I wanted to know how this plane will balance out with a 1.80 satio. I will start building it next week and want to know if i need to mount the engine as close to the firewall as i can or what. Thanks alot

Balances out fine. I added no weight and it was right on CG. I built it stock per instructions, no mods. JR 126mg servos, ar7000 reciever, 6V battery and Saito 180 GK.
You will have to sand down the inside cheek for the throttle arm and reverse it 180 degrees. Engine was made for this plane IMO.

M20512,the Twist150 I bought was from RC reports reviewer and he used GT26 engine. I put OS160 in it. Same holes in motor mt worked. He added a little wt in rear and that also worked for OS160. He said GT26 more than enough power. Install was very neat with GT26. Only trimmed right side cheek a tad to clear exhaust.I had to trim it more for OS160 exhaust. You may not have to trim with a pipe. I'll try to ask some of pilots who flew it for review at our club about the power.
