I haven't done the conversion myself although up in the engine pod would be a good place for the esc. It's high enough that it would stay fairly dry although there will always be some humidity/moisture associated with a seaplane. The engine pylon and pod could be easily modified for adequate airflow.

I remember reading an article on a seamaster electric conversion from a few years back and the builder concentrated heavily on lightening the plane first. The entire fuse was made out of 1/8" balsa instead of lite ply, the stabs and control surfaces were trussed, and the main wing was also rebuilt at a reduced weight. I think over a pound was shaved off the aircraft before he started the conversion. The reduced strength of the airframe was not as much of an issue as the electric motors have far less vibration. With the light weight batteries and powerful brushless motors available today, this would make a great flying plane. I hope this is of some help.

Did you ever find anyone and have you been able to convert the Seamaster. I just posted a question in another thread about doing this. I fly from my pontoon boat on the lake, and the nitro stuff is just too hard to haul around. I fly electric float planes, boats and gasoline boats, but I would also like to fly my Seamaster electric. I would love to get any information you were able to find.

Thanks,

EKF

The seamaster is a great choice. I am planning on reducing the plans to 50" wing , an scratch building one to except electric.
