I took pictures and a walkaround video of the B-25 "Axis Nightmare" (including bomb bay, cockpit, etc), but since you are on dial-up it would not be worth it to download. Do you have highspeed access anywhere where you can download it?

Brings back memories. I worked on this plane when it was owned by the Georges in Springfield il. I spent many a hours up in the nose putting it back in shape.

The Marine Corps flew this aircraft with 4 squadrons in WW II. The designation was PBJ-1 for the aircraft and VMB-XXX for the squadrons.

Any one have any pics of full scale B25s in green and tan camo? ( other than axis nightmare) I'd like to model mine after something from "operation torch" from the North African theater.

Wow, I really like the Yellow Rose paint scheme. I might have to give that one some serious thought for the next B-25 over Betty's Dream.

Hi from Australia

Great thread this. I'm starting my third B-25 - the first two were 101" Ziroli but this one is a scaled down 84"version. I've started a building thread over at RCScaleBuilder - http://www.rcscalebuilder.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=9809&PN=1&TPN=1

Here is a picture (scanned) of my 101" just prior to the first test flight at the Canton, Illinois airport. It is the first time I have used this scanner so hopefully the picture is ok. If this works out ok, I will post some more later if you fella's would like.

That's not bad for a scan. Nice job!

(I'm having trouble deciding which one of those pretty girls willey keeps posting to paint on my B-25)

It had O.S. 1.08's, they worked perfectly, plenty power and never a dead stick "knock on wood". You can see in the picture of the finished plane there were cut outs in the cowls where just the head of the motor is showing, mounted at a 45 degree to inverted position. That made it easy for glow driver hook up for starting and eliminated some of the fully inverted problems that can arise.

Old Scale Guy,
I remember your B-25 very well, as I was one of the Flight Judges at the 2004 Scale Masters event in Gardner, Kansas. I also remember watching as the mid-air occurred. The strut of the BIG Piper Cub sliced the left outer wing panel of your B-25 off like a knife. Down she went into a pile of rubble. The Cub was repaired over night and flew again the next day. I remember at the static judging event at our CAF hangar the pride you showed as you went through the judging process. Build another one. I have an O.S. 1.08 in my 65" w/s Top Flite P-51D Mustang. This is a superb engine, runs like a Swiss watch and has WAY MORE than enough power for my P-51! I believe this engine could fly a 5th scale Warbird if the build was kept light enough. I fly my current P-51D at half throttle or less with the 1.08. She is a Rocket at full throttle!

when i was 24 i had a ride in a actual b-25 that flew missions over germany. the plane was owned by glen lamont and called gallant warrior. glen sold her to the yankee air force and they renamed her yankee warrior but kept the same nose art. There is a pic of her on this thread. My dad was a p-47 pilot and pulled some strings and told me I was going aboard for a ground tour. Before i knew it the engines started and my dad said happy birthday son.
he dided last april now i miss him so much. noone understands my love of ww2 aviation although the wife tolerates it and lets me ride whatever i can.

That b-25 was totally restored with a j nose and i still flying. I also got a ride in a b-17, 24 and p-51 all due to my dad

When I was in High School, I lived at the top a hill in the San Francisco east bay area above El Sobrante. There was a fellow who lived at the foot of the next hill over who owned a B-25. On the hill between my place and his was a water tank. Every once in a while, he would fly the B-25 and circle over his house at verry low altitude. As he would circle the tank, he would be almost level with my living room window about 250 - 400 yards. Very close. Talk about a sight! The house would rumble as he sweeped up the hill in a tight bank, then disappear behind the other side of the hill in a dive over his place. How I wish I had a camera back then!

Hey Tim,

That was a great story! I wish my dad had lived long enough to do something like that. Because of this story I'll try to do something like this for my son.

Cheers,

David

At the risk of starting to get this thread off topic - I too recently had a dreamride come true. Altough in my case, it was a ride on the B-17G Liberty Belle on August 25, 2007! I still need to get rides on B-24 and a B-25 before I die. I won't upload any of my pictures to this thread since it is only for B-25s.
