Flak, it is interesting to hear that you have that good a recall of my old B-25. My friends call the J-3 that hit me "The Killer Cub". Who would ever think a Cub could take down a B-25? I will build another one it is just a matter of when. There are quite a few B-25's out there right now so I may build something else after the subject I am working on now, then do the B-25 after that. Time will tell. Sure wish they still made the 1.08's, dropping that motor IMHO was a mistake!

Hello.

I agree fantastic stuff this thread. Finally the weather here in Denmark was flying weather (at least no rain) and I got my certification flight done. Here are a couple of pictures that my buddy Tommy took he just got a new digi-camera so he used the occasion to practice a little. I am still very happy with the plane, fantastic flight performance and rock steady.

At the risk of starting to get this thread off topic - I too recently had a dreamride come true. Altough in my case, it was a ride on the B-17G Liberty Belle on August 25, 2007! I still need to get rides on B-24 and a B-25 before I die. I won't upload any of my pictures to this thread since it is only for B-25s.

what do you guy's think? should we turn this thread into a B25/B17 Bomber thread?????? I'll let you guys decide - how about best out of 9 votes say???

myself, I'll probably never build one, but they are the king of bombers????? don't matter to me.

Ok a real resource...

A book, Warbird Tech Series - Volume 12 - North American B-25 Mitchell

I don't think it's out of print but I found bumpkins on Amazon. Lot's of detail photos, 3-views, and drawings.

OldScaleGuy,
I have a great memory, (as long as I'm not answering one of my wife's questions) LOL!

Willey,
My aunt Patsy Ann, (who is still with us) lied about her age and at 16 helped build B-25's at the Fairfax Bomber Plant in Kansas City, Kansas. About three years ago, (being a member of the CAF) I got her a ride in Show Me, the B-25J Mitchell from St. Charles, Missouri. She was flabbergasted and honored to be able to fly in one of the very aircraft she helped build so long ago. My B-25J Mitchell from Ziroli plans is being finished in Flite Metal. I am naming her "Patsy Ann" after my aunt. She recently gave me the photo they used to make her plant I.D. from. I am having this transposed to a decal and will place it as the Nose Art with her name once the project is finished. I should have finished this ship long ago, but I have more than one hobby. I am currently restoring a 1943 Willys MB 1/4 Ton Jeep. I will jump back to my B-25 project this fall.

Flak,
That's a great story. Your build will be the perfect tribute to your Aunt, the CAF and the B-25. Please post updates and photos.

What's your thoughts on these engines for the Ziroli 101" - do they have enough power?? would they run a three blade well or not??,
would like to go the gas route I think, all input is welcome.

Willey,
OldScaleGuy had two O.S. 1.08 2 stroke glow engines in his. I am powering mine with Ryobi 31CC gassers. I believe you could use the 24's, but I believe the 35's will give you more power if needed, espescially with three blade props. Two blade props on a B-25 is SACRELIGE!!! Man, how about another BREAK TIME?!

Willey, I agree with Flak. I have seen several of Z 101 B-25's with G-38's and would not consider them over powered.

I too have seen several fly with G-38's and I thought that was my motor. Then I saw one fly with RCV 120SP's and changed my mind. Since I was already partial to RCV engines that wasn't too hard to do. I really wanted to go gas on this one but................................

Thanks Guys, I guess I'm looking for engines that I can keep as much of it as possible in the cowl but have enough power for scale flight, but keep in mine that this will more in likely be on the upper end in the weight department, it will be loaded with all the goodies, glassed & painted.

Can anybody post or (guide me to were) a photo of the Z101 w/G38's?

The RCV120's would they have enough power for a fully loaded 101"??

BOOOY!! you guy's are getting too spoiled here!!
But I guess we can add a little more wood to the fire!

Check out rcwarbirds.com and click on the bomber section. There's a few B-25s in there with various engine types for the Z-101".

Willey,
Be careful in what you do. I'm all for scale flight, but I have enough power to get out of trouble. I always have more power if I need it. My B-25J is decked out, to include the actual tunnel from the nose gunner area back to the cabin behind the cockpit. I have a map table by the waist gunner position. The top ball turret turns with the rudders. I have Master Airscrew 14X7 3 blade propellers. I have also drawn up a device to make my cowl flaps open and close with the throttles. I still have to build it. In the end, one has to decide how much detail he wants to input into something that may fly and suddenly be lost to some unfortunate circumstance. Just ask Old Scal Guy, he knows from first hand experience. You may want to check out the O.S. 1.20 or 1.60 2 stroke glow engines. Either would easily fit inside the cowls. However, you have the expense of glow fuel. The Mark (Moki) 2.10 is also a good choice for a glow engine, as it will run on go cart fuel, which is much cheaper than glow fuel. I am finishing a Pica 1/5th scale P-40E Warhawk with one of these Bad Boys for Her power plant. Wild Blue, watch out!

Anyone have a list or links for names on B-25's? I mean the plane's name, not pilot/co-pilot, etc.
