Here is an idea of the color scheme and more photos will be posted next week. The hatch and all fiber glass parts are in the paint shop...

Hi Scoubidou

I'm about to start building the same kit. Have not decided engine/exhaust solution yet.
Do you know where your CG ends with the pipes?

Tor

Ok
I did a first CG balance test and i am about 3/4'' behing the recommend CG ( tail heavy ). I can easily set to the recommend CG by moving front my 2 2300mA A123 batteries near the wing tube.
I still have some vinyl to install and set the servos horns but i'am satisfied of the result.

Thank you
From your pictures I can see that you have moved the rudder servo. Have you done anything else to get the cg forward?
I plan to lighten all stucture aft of the canopy. I was thinking of a ZDZ 100NG with KS86 pipes in this model, but the ZDZ is very light.
It is 450g/15oz lighter than DA100. I will rather use a DA than a ZDZ and end up with lead weights in the front.
Do you have the final weight yet?

Hi Tor
My expereience with ZDZ engines tell me they answer very well with tuned pipes. I would go with two AMT tuned pipes if you want to go with ZDZ100 NG instead KS86 canisters. Specially if you want to use it for IMAC.

There is not much wood/foam to remove forward the canopy since Carden hatch come already cut but it should be probably lighter to use monokote instead painting the hatch like i did. I saved a lot of weight with CF Graphtech landing gear.
I'll post the final weight when completed.

I ment the KS1060 tuned pipe. I'm using both the KS86 canisters and the KS1060 in other models and mixed them up.
My concern is the light weight of the ZDZ100NG and that it needs tuned pipes to give enough power.
Both will move the CG aft.
Most likely I will end up with the DA.

Today I am competing in IMAC Intermediate with a Aerotech RC models 37% Cap232 powered by 3W106CS.
It is very light, 28lbs, and has a lot of power but it requires some mixing to track straight in knife edge.

Good decision. I have a friend who has put a ZDZ100 with KS canister in a 28lbs Carden 300 and it does not have enough power to fly advance (vertical snap rolls). In my book, it takes more power to fly Advance IMAC than flying 3D.

what drop are the headers you used? I have a 330 and have been wanting to know what drop headers I need for it. 90mm 70mm or 50mm????

Thanks,
Jamie

Hi Jamy
Sorry but i ordered my headers to DA and you just have to specify it's for the 35% Carden 260. They will give you the right headers drop. Presently, i have the same power with the KS-86 canisters on my other DA-100 Giles G202 combo than with this DA-100 on pipes.

DA asked my to return the pipes because they think i have the first generation of MTW pipes which they needs very long headers to work.

Here are some tacks: 6400 RPM on Mejlzilk 28x10 and 6600 on PT 27x10
The Extra 260 flies so well, very neutral and a lot better plane than my 40% WH Giles G202 on DA-100. I am hooked to Carden now.
