Hello
After many years flying ARFs, i decided to build my first Carden kit.

I am going to use that plane to fly IMAC intermediate in 2008 and my goal is getting 27.-27.5 lbs dry with DA-100 with tuned pipes.

The MTW RE-2 pipes are new on the market but DA tested them for a while and MTW is on 7th generation before releasing them on the market. They suppose to give the same power boost but better midrange than KS-1060 pipes. We will see but my first impressiojn is good and they weight the same of TD 75 canisters at 250g

Let me know if someone interrested to see another buiding thread or has some good ideas to help me...
Daniel

Hi Krazy
I have to buy a scroll saw this week to reduce weight in the engine box .

Thanks to Caroline for the goodies. She put a prop cover and a Carden hat in the box

I have never flown a Carden but there is a reason why 80% IMAC pilots in Advance/unlimited fly Carden.

Daniel,

Good luck and we anxiously await your Build. When built straight, nothing Flys better then the Carden's, IMHO.

It's amazing to see all plywood plate are written by Denis's hand!
I hope i have not been too agressive on the scroll saw. I removed 12.5 oz from the motor box and side formers. I thought that Carden kits were more difficult to build than that.
The plan are clear and there is lot of room for personnal mods.

The landing gear weights 18 oz and Graphteck makes one at 9.3 oz for 60$. This could save about 1/2 lbs on the gear only.
More pics to come.

Daniel

Keep up the good work Daniel, Caroline is shipping mine in the morning

This is my 3rd Carden ..My original is still flying at 4 years old and looks better than any new ARF on the market Actually still a Carden back from 1994-95 still flyable around here...I actually built it also from their original kits.

Sure like the report of those new pipes, i just may have to do that myself..

Hi Jack
Do you remember what kind of screws did you use to attach the wings to the fuse? I would like to use nylon 1/4 screws with blind nuts. Any concerns?

Daniel

Daniel, I have always used 8-32 bolts as suggested in the plans....But I have a 42% that uses 2 nylon bolts to hold each wing panel on and it has not caused any problems in 2 years..

I'm with you and the nylon bolts and blind nuts this time.
