Jim,

Powerbox Royal has a built-in RRS (Redundant Receiver System). Each receiver controls the whole airplane. In case of any problem the other receiver will take over and still controls all the channels. I am very impressed with my Royal. It gives you a lot of information as well. How many times it has switched and max current draw, minimum voltage drop, mah spent on each battery, ...

It is an excellent device with 40 amp regulator. Plus it has two dedicated 3 amp each regulator only for the receivers. Meaning whatever draw your servos show, voltage on the receiver stays right at 5v.

I have a thread on this product on the Giant site, take a look at it when you get a chance.

Thanks,
Reza

Thanks. I didn't realize that both receivers work as a pair under normal circumstances. Jim

Great job Steve.

Load us some pictures of your install when you get a chance. You will have insane power with that combo and weight. Wait until you fly it

Thanks for sharing,
Reza

I'm leaving on Friday for a March break vacation cruise with my family. I'll take some pictures when I get back in a few weeks.

Steve

Reza,

Sorry if I am being redundant, but did you recommended to use a 26 X 12 if I were to go with a Mejlik CF prop on a DA100?

butternifedge...yes that is what Quique recommends for the python with a DA100, I spoke to him about it at the AMA show

Yes as Hooked correctly mentioned 26x12. Me personally like both 26x12 and 27x10 on the Python. On the 102" I absolutely love the 26x12.

tell you what skateflyer, if you want to fly mine once it's airborn I will let you, however you crash it, you pay to replace it... I have every confidence in your flying skills however...

Hey Hooked, I might take you up on that, look forward to seeing your Python in the air. I am growing fonder of bi planes each time I fly the DV but as all planes have an expiry date I am looking down the road. Would really prefer to find another 50 cc biplane.

Cheers

Thanks for the prop conformation Hooked-On-RC and Reza. I've been bouncing around on the build order for this plane. I have the landing gear and tail wheel installed, the ailerons attached with horns installed, covering re-shrunk and touched up (just a light tightinging after a few days out of the shipping plastic). This is going to go pretty quickly, it took longer to wipe the drewl off the plane when a flying buddy stopped over to borrow some canopy glue for a project he was on. O.K. so a little of the drewl might have been mine too.
Tail feathers going on tonight and Saturday for the cowl install (Thanks to all involved in developing the great 3 page supplement work sheet for that little task!!) I am having the most fun and enjoyment on this project to date...

He is a little tip for the tail feathers that worked well for me. There is a channel where the vertical stab mounts. Drill a couple of 1/4" holes at the bottom of that channel and use a drinking straw or control rod tube to help run some CA glue down onto the horizontal stab mount to glue in the horizontal stab. Wicking CA in from the sides works but this just add extra glue from the inside outwards. Then when you glue in the vertical stab the holes are covered and filled with your favourite glue anyways, I used Elmers professional wood glue for my vertical stab...easy clean up and super strong! Have fun, the drewl factor really comes into plae the first time you set it up in your hobby room and just look at it...bring a face cloth!

Skateflyer....
50cc, it is time you flew with the big boys, you can always use a DA85 for the Python, lots of guys are doing that and it is working out really well. One DA85 on a canister makes damn near the same power as a DA100...go figure. Yes you can fly mine when it takes to the air...
Cheers
Hooked.

T bob...nice avatar....

With a DA85 it is my understanding they are coming in around 24-25 pounds...with a DA100 it is in the 27 pound range. Apparently and I can only speak based on what I have heard as I have not flown mine yet, the QQ Python flies extremely slow, rolls extremely fast and flies like it is on rails...check out QQ webiste for video's...mind you Quique Somenzini makes flying effortless but at least it will give you and idea as to how they fly!
