Dear All,

As we are getting closer to release of our new Kimball-Somenzini Python 100cc, I thought I’d start a build thread on a product that no one has one yet, so by the time hopefully mid-end of October that they will be available you know all about it and it is no mystery.

I have an extremely busy schedule but I am committing myself to do this for you fine people out there. So please bear with me and ask as many questions as you would like but do allow some time so I can get back with you.

First of all let me tell you this fine aircraft will set a new standard in quality and performance of ARF market in my opinion. The quality of workmanship is beyond my imagination for an ARF! Plane comes nearly complete with all top of the line hardware including H9 Titanium rods, high quality ball links, CF tubes, Ultracote, even Velcro Straps!

All the blind nuts in the entire airplane are done! Cowl is two pieces that you normally do not see in any 100cc plane!. Wheel pants are ready to install with blind nuts already inserted. Aluminum gear is already drilled for wheel pants and axles!

Control horn holes are already opened and sealed (With soldering iron). Hinge slots are already cut and covering has been removed.

Engine box is drilled out and blind nut inserted for DA100 or similar engine with the same bolt pattern!

Please find attached some pictures and remember to bear with me through out this process as I am extremely busy with work, family, forums, building, writing manuals and helping out as many modelers as I am able to in this great hobby of ours.

I will also try to cover all the websites that we offer support forums but I can not make any promise on that, however I will certainly cover RCU.

I promise this will be good :-)

To those who have kids, these boxes are quite useful LOL

One thing I need to mention before I forget I can not answer questions during working hours 6am-6pm I will get back with you every night! Please don't hesitate to shoot me an email if you don't feel comfortable posting your question at reza@giantrcsupport.com however I rather answer on the forum so everyone can take advantage of the Q&A.

Stay Tuned!

And here's the specs before you ask:

Wing Span 85"
Length including 4.5 P-51 spinner 90"
Wing area 2,380 Square-Inch
Weight 26.5-27.5 lbs

Our prototype with Tru-Turn spinner, Two 3000 2s2p Duralite batteries, 1 2700 NIMH ignition, Grieve tuned pipes at 27 lb 4 oz!

I know, I know it will fly like a foamy

I started with hinging! All the slots are cut, cleaned and ironed. All you need to do the glue the hinges! I did not have to do one extra step at all! Super easy and fast. One thing to remember if you use PT-55 hinge glue, make sure not to let the glue run down to the bottom of the hinge slot! Apply some petroleum jelly to the hinge pin.

Apply the glue with the needle that comes with the glue and push it in a little with a toothpick. Then apply one more layer of glue to the hinge slot, this time don't push it in. Apply a thin layer of glue on the hinge itself and insert the hinge!

Hinge the ailerons first. It would be a little easier to handle and line up with the wing, however it does not make that much of difference since the wings are small as there are four of them

Clean the excess glue with alcohol swab.

To those that use Gorilla glue, they will love the hinge slots as they are completly open and clean.

Any interest to this build thread yet? If not I will just post few pictures of the entire build process after I'm done.

Hello Rezagh,

Yes, very interested in your build thread. I am in England and have placed an order with Fusion Models for one of these 100cc Pythons, however they are not able to give me a delivery date yet - any ideas please.

Another quick question please - I am hoping to use Futaba S9152 servos throughout on the flying surfaces. Are the holes large enough for these slightly oversized servos, ala Chip Hyde Extra 34% that I currently have?

Kind Regards and keep the thread going

Rob

Really sucks that it's pre-drilled for a specific engine ...Creates another step to glue in dowel and re-drill for those of us that don't run that engine.

It was a long time to wait. As far as I see, great job to develop that ARF.
I have an engine in stock which will teach the Python not to act like an foamy.
But will the Python be able to handle the extra weight and the extra power of an
Moki 215 ccm radial engine? What do you think?

Hi Rob,

Delivery will be latest end of October! You guys may get them within two weeks from us!

Is the S9152 the larger Futaba servo? If that's the case, yes you need to file the bay and make it a little larger to fit those. Make sure to use 1/8" Lite Ply to back it up from underneath! Doable but it does not come ready to install for non standard size Futaba servo but if your servo is the new standard size, you should be OK!

Please don't hesitate to jump in and ask any questions you may have during the build with regards to anything that will go in the plane to have it RTF.

Regards,
Reza

You know 3W 106 uses the same bolt pattern as DA100. Most people based on our experience use DA and some others 3W. This will make it really easy for majority of customers but I completely understand your position if neither engine is what you own. Sorry about that! If we find more than 5% of our customers are in your shoes we will consider changing this the future runs.

Regards,
Reza

Hi There,

Thank you for participating in this thread. I would think you would be better using that engine on our 150cc Python that we will do next! I think that engine runs around 10-11 lbs and it would make this plane hard to balance with that much weight up in the nose!

Thank you,
Reza
