We don't know what brands you have available to you? We also do not know your desired flying style?

For just general sport puttering around a good 40 two stroke will do the honors

If you like and expect 3D you should have as a minimum a ASP/Magnum XLS52 two stroke or maybe the new OS 55AX two stroke?

In the four strokes and 3D you should have at least a 70 or bigger size four stroke.

if this is the katana you have , i run a magnum 70 4st with mas k series 13x6 and the performance is good. it will hover at a little over half throttle with enough power to pull out safely. this is the esm katana 40 and a lot of fun to fly. some people ive heard are running 90 size motors in it.
Cheers Greg

the ASP engine may be cheaper and just slightly larger in cc,s but i will say the OS will last alot longer.

The ASP is a lot more finicky to set up the low-end needle is ultra-sensitive and needs careful adjustment but it's a stump-puller compared to the OS46.

However, the OS46 is a far better-made engine. Little things like the use of a single pinch-bolt retainer for the carby rather than the two threaded bolts in the ASP and the better quality muffler mean the OS will probably be less hassle and trouble in the long-run.

If I were you I'd go hunt down a TT46Pro or even a Saito 82 for that plane. The TT is a *very* nice engine (better than the OS in my opinion) but at a lower price and the Saito is just perfect for any 40-sized plane.

Another alternative might be the TT75FS - although I've not had my hands on one yet to verify the claims that they're very good value for money.
