I saw in the latest MAN an ad for H9's new Sure cycle battery cycler & charger, which claims to charge both NiCd and NiMH packs. Anybody tried it ? Any comments ?
In fact, is it even out yet ?

thanks
JG

yeah, I have one and it works great got it about 3 months ago and it is my main charger. the only thing i wish it would do is stop charging when the battery is peaked but all in all I don't think you could go wrong for the price.

Nicds handle excessive charges much better than nimh. Nimh batteries will be toast if over charged. Typically the nimh pack will just burn itself up, it doesn't tolerate heat.

If your charger is overcharging the nimh packs, the packs are being ruined. Nimh packs require a tad more care than nicds.

On their website, H9 states that the cycler has 2 charge rates, 50 and 150 mA.
How strict is the C/10 rule ? I mean, if I have a 1100mAh battery, will 150mA still be considered C/10 charging (meaning a 16hrs charge) ?
What I'm getting at, is there a rule of thumb to know how long to charge the battery considering its rated capacity and the charging current.

thanks
JG

it would probably take somewhere around 7.5 hours to charge the 1100mah battery at 150.
