Just purchased 4 x 125MG servos..The output arm retaining screw on all four will not mate. Screws OD are 0.090" or 2.22m/m. The supplied screw goes in 2 turns then locks up. Maggy lamp shows clean M/C threads in the output shafts.

Tried metric threads, 2/56, 3/48, 4/40 not close.

Closest I can get is with a 6BA thread which at least goes in 4 turns.

Anyone else had this problem? What's the solution? I will not use PK screws.

Thanks,
Brian

Yep, 2.2x.5 should fit..But they don't!
The screws are supplied in the Hitek box.
Not one screw fits any one of the four servos.
Either the threads are undersize in the output shafts, or the screws are oversize.

Either way they don't fit.

Flying for 50 years;Including Pattern, Turbines, Electric, Pylon in my younger days etc. Over 80 servos, never has this trouble before.
Ex toolmaker so I understand about fits and tolerances.

Question is, what to do?

Visit LHS where servos purchased or check with your supplier for an exchange (unless all other servos/screws in same batch have a similar problem). Otherwise suggest you contact your Australian distributor Model Engines Ltd direct = mikefarnan@modelengines.com.au

Looks like there is a batch problem Al....

Hi Brian
You are right; we have checked all our stock and found the same problem. We have advise Hitec and are waiting for their answer on when we can get replacement stock. With your servos and because of your back ground, you can have a go at re taping them if you like. If it does not work, return them to us and we will replace them when we receive our replacement stock.

Thanks for the heads up we appreciate it.
Best Regards
Mike Farnan

Finally got to check our current stock, from latest production run, of HFS-125MG. The 2.2mm X 8mm servo horn screws were tight at two turns on some whilst a number screwed down further before sticking. Close examination showed that the sticking screws had a heavier coat of paint- a quick light wipe with wire brush and all are now a good fit.

Thanks Alan that's good work.
The problem is more subtle than that though.....Check the photos

Screw was stripped in thinners and wire brushed, as you can see it's oversize

Yes you can screw it in (barely) but it's too tight for my liking

Am I glad to find this thread!!! I've been pulling out my hair. I have four new 125's and the same problem. I am trying to maiden a plane ASAP for a contest on 4-13-08, and the wing was designed to run this servo, and I am up against a wall. I find it VERY frustrating that this issue dates back to at least last year, and it has not been corrected. Hitec should do something to correct this before a customer is inconvenienced, there are plenty of competitors looking to find there way into the market.
