It can be mind boggling to say the least. I just sort of made up my mind and I think I made a good decision. If not, I don't know because I am doing great with my heli. Just make a priority list and compare the ones you are interested in against it, read the forums and go from there.

If you are choosing between the Falcon 3d and the Black Hawk get the Black Hawk much better bird. Bigger (makes it more stable ) and doesnt have the z bend cheapy linkages like the Falcon (makes a big differance in control).

What Aftermarket Battery For the BH 450??

If Santa will bring me an aftermarket battery, what should I ask for?
does it come with the Dean's connector installed?..if not, how hard to
put the Dean's on?...thanks, John H., Houston

ea01bg -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (12/6/2007 1:53:10 AM)

I've been flying these for a year now and they work great and are 1/2 or less the price of the "Name" brands

JoeMo -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (12/6/2007 5:47:51 PM)

Thanks for the thread guys. I have decided on the black hawk now its just deciding on the model which I will do by this weekend.

srouthouse -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (12/6/2007 7:18:57 PM)

i really like my BH450se even though i crash it due to my own messing with things lol

mike at ka-planes will give you great customer service, he,s been walking me through lots of different settings because i changes things myself. out of the box the heli will hover very stable

ea01bg -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (12/6/2007 8:07:48 PM)

I bought two RTF Helis from Mike at KA-Planes My Falcon 3D and My Black Hawk 450SE. Booth Had no problems. I got another RTF Heli last week Hurricane 550 from another vendor and I still havent gotten all the problems fixed bad assembley broken parts. and this was a "Tested" Heli? Well thats a lesson learned[:o] When I open the package on a Heli i buy from KA-Planes I know mike has tested it.

Hi EA..thanks for the link..price is right...two quick questions:
do the batteries fit well in the BH compartment?...and, does the
battery come with a Dean's Connector on it...can't tell from the link
..thanks, John H.

srouthouse -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (12/6/2007 9:25:26 PM)

yes and yes

ea01bg -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (12/6/2007 11:33:43 PM)

fits perfect and no the deans connector doesnt come on it. Its not that hard to put them on.

jmhh -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (12/7/2007 1:56:09 PM)

Hi Srouth and EA...have either of you tried this "house" brand
battery form HobbyCity that comes with the Dean's?...seems to get
good reviews and be reasonably similar to the HXT battery
...cheers, John H.

Blaze1593 -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (12/7/2007 9:06:46 PM)

I'm still flying with the ELE Diamond I bought a couple of months ago but I have flown at least every other day since mid-Sept and I am still in the basics but I am having a great time.
Take care

Re: Mystery Small Brass Spacer--Where Does It Go?

Was removing blades from the BH and a small brass
spacer (don't think it's a bearing) fell out from, it seems to me,
the vicinity of the blade grips...have removed and attached blades
several times and never seen it before...have looked around blade
grips area (above and below) and fly bar and can't seem to see
where it goes...any ideas?.....thanks, John H.

ea01bg -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (12/9/2007 1:10:33 AM)

I hate to state the obvious but, did you check the other grip and blade?

srouthouse -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (12/9/2007 1:50:21 AM)

no idea bud my se never had a brass spacer

jmhh -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (12/9/2007 1:55:16 AM)

Yes...John H.

inf3rn0gt -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (12/9/2007 2:04:00 AM)

Anybody ever compile a listing of all the T-rex compatible parts for a BH450?
I just got on in a trade and I love it... I did take a hard landing today and broke the skid, but nothing that JB weld couldn't fix
but it is fun.... it is my first real one that I have flown... I had a cx2 but got bored quickly.....

ea01bg -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (12/9/2007 3:08:47 AM)

John,
I just took a look at the pdf Manual I have and it dosnt show a brass space in the grips. Could this have come from the blades (mounting hole)? ? Take a look at the other blade. The only other brass spaces I see are in the head itself.

Helihap -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (12/9/2007 3:43:42 AM)

the entire head, tail casing, boom and skids. The individual pieces are hit and miss but the assemblies fit in total plus 315 blades.

jmhh -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (12/9/2007 3:24:19 PM)

Hi EA...been off-line since my last post..woke up
this AM thinking about what you posted...then saw your post
...great minds thinking alike!!...I believe that's the answer
...probably been easier if I'd posted that I somehow broke
the blade at the grip...thanks for your help!!. ..John H.

jmhh -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (12/9/2007 3:30:02 PM)

Hi Heli...for the Noob here, what's the flight characteristics
difference between the 310 and 315 mm blades.?..which is better
for the novice?...I'm betting the 310 because they don't have as
much lift...but they could spin faster ..cheers, John H.

Helihap -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (12/10/2007 12:04:07 AM)

the 5mm is very minimal effect if any. there may be but I cannot tell any difference at all.

MiniCwik -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (12/10/2007 1:13:54 PM)

I had some great flights in over the last two weeks while I was off on parental leave, even in the 30 degree weather the heli flies great!!!

I had one incident that was caused by both pilot error and a breeze coming around the side of my house that I hadn't dealt with until I ventured out that far to fly around a tree (for the 10th time). Basically as I was making my turn around it, a breeze pushed the heli towards the tree and I reacted too slow to go up over (the small tree just planted this spring) and the blades went right into it. It sliced through the top branches and I immediately powered down and let it fall about 8 feet into the tall grass on it's side.

Fortunately, I only had minimal damage - bent spindle shaft, broke plastic ends of tail boom brace, bent flybar, and chewed up leading edges of wooden main blades. I immediately went inside and removed/replaced the spindle shaft, CA'd the tailboom ends, straightened the flybar, and was test hovering in the basement about an hour later. All checked out okay, just need to re-adjust blade tracking now and get the pitch back to -2 at zero throttle, it's at -4/5 now.

Outstanding heli! I had quite a few flights with it and this was my first incident, pulled off a couple piro's and did some head-in maneuvers as well and cannot wait for the next 30 degree calm day to do it again. :D

Helihap -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (12/10/2007 11:02:02 PM)

welcome back. do the linkages still look right, as far as not being bent?
