Status: offline 		Stock main shaft off the helipro black hawk 500 is a weak point. Don't get me wrong, helipro black hawk are great stuff, but shaft broke on me when i was hovering. this was during this year spring. So I want to know if anybody found a shaft that are stronger then stock.

Status: offline 		The only times the main shaft on my BH500 breaks is when I crash.   I'm no expert, but this is the first I've heard of the main shaft breaking.

Status: offline 		Oh this is like on past many around 40 page to 80 page between them pages that you might missed. This more likely happend on black hawk 500. I believe they have different mainshaft. It broke clean. But this can also happend with the 450. Anyways it has been happing and you missed it but its ok. Things break of normal uses so no worries.
What i know is there is better harder shaft availble from ka-planes for the bh 450.

Yeah, me too. I broke one main shaft on my 450se, but it happened in a bad crash. I have had quite a few minor crashes that never broke the main shaft, just bent the spindle shaft.

Status: offline 		i cant remember if i had a crash before shaft broke. I do remember when i was just taking off into a hover, shaft broke on me. Just 30 dollars fix but never ended up fixing it
now I'm thinking about fixing her up again.

Status: offline 		I got the blades but one was defective and won't charge properly. I'll have to see if I can get a replacement somehow. The servos were shipped to my parents house by accident so I have to wait on those too :-(

cool strobes link btw but very expensive.

Status: offline 		So I got new working blades from experienceRC and put them on. Wow, what a difference in response with CF blades vs wood. They made much more of a difference I feel then just the servos alone with wood blades. The heli can almost flip in place (although I'm still not ready for inverted flight yet)...I think I am going to buy a ESKY Belt CP to practice that on. If I crash that $150 heli I won't feel as bad as crashing my blackhawk.

Anyhow, here is the video I made of me flying it all lit up for the first time. I also made a circuit for blinking and steady on Nav lights but I haven't attached it to the heli yet. I'll post another video once I have attached it to the heli.

No it wasn't hard to land as the heli has enough ambient glow to light up the ground a little. The camera just isn't sensitive enough to pick up on that light.

Status: offline 		Steve at ExperienceRC told me that the way they used to see the ground apart from ambient or helicopter lighting is to use glow sticks.  Just don't go off and start a Rave while flying.

Status: offline 		I crashed it a few days ago...the second flight after I got my LEDs on it. I hovered it for a few seconds and then went into forward flight. All of a sudden it was like someone was hitting near full right stick and it started to roll right. I gave it full left stick, but it didn't respond. It was headed directly for a pond so I hit throttle hold. It hit the ground hard and I saw my new blades fly into the air. I was sure I had broken those new blades, but when I got up to it they were intact. The spindle shaft had split in two releasing the blades. I am not able to detect any other damage, even the main shaft still seems to be straight. My theory is that because the secondary receiver antenna had broken off awhile back, and the added interference from the lights, might have contributed to a signal loss. I have re-soldered a new antenna wire onto the secondary receiver but haven't tried another flight. I want to be real cautious for the next flight until I'm sure it won't act up on me again.

Status: offline 		Sorry to hear about your crash Gizmo. Glad your CF night blades survived. I had something similar happen to my BH450 a few weeks ago, but was able to get it down without damage. Mine banked hard right, and would not correct when pulling the stick hard left. I pulled back on the throttle and kept adding some rudder and just kept it going in circles till it got close to the ground then hit TH. The servos are screwed only into the CF frame instead of having a bolt screwed into a threaded insert in the frame like some others. After checking mine over I found that the screws were pulling out of the frame on the aileron servo and the servo was loose and about ready to fall off.

I fixed mine by attaching the servos using small bolts with nuts on the inside of the frame. I did that to all 3 cyclic servos even though the other two were still tight. Just something you might want to check. Believe me, I have had all kinds of strange things happen to me with my BH450 but I still keep fixing and flying it cause I like it, and it was my first heli. Btw, I have also had several gears split on the SG90 servos too during a minor crash and missed it during the rebuild and it caused some erratic flying. You can't see a damaged gear just by looking through that blue servo case, you have to take the servo apart.
If you are still using the stock SG90 servos and need gears you can get gear sets at Ushobbysupply or Helidirect.

Status: offline 		I'll have to check my servo's and see if they are loose as suggested by Jerry. I am using the HS-65 servos which were a bit of a pain to get onto the BH. I doubt that is the issue though cause they are pretty tight in there when I put them on even without the screws in. I also had no opportunity to try to recover after pushing left failed as it was headed directly for water, and even pressing throttle hold as soon as I did it crashed right on the embankment and almost rolled in! Scared the heck out of me since last I checked heli's aren't good swimmers. I'll keep ya posted...

Status: offline 		Are you using metal geared servos?  If not, make sure nothing got stripped!  I have HS-65's and they took a helluva beating but eventually, I had to regear.
