yep thats a stripped servo. ive had one myself already due to my lack of flying skills.

flew another 2 battery packs today and this heli hovers great and its very stable even with the flybar weights removed it hovers easier then most sims.

I am having a great time with my black hawk. there is not anything i want to change but i notice most people eventually get into change outs and upgrades. sounds good though i might just get a second one in a couple of months. if i go with mutliple helicopters either another receiver or a radio system for both would make sense.
Happy New Year

all my upgrades wich now im just flying with the dx6, logitech 2100t gyro and the 9650 tail servo it is working perfect but it was very close to this stock setup so im going back to all stock. the rest of the stuff i bought and havnt put on the BH is all going on my trex.

i think with the stock set up the best thing to upgrade would be the tail servo if that.

worst wreck ive had was today, after 3 full battery packs with good hovering i got to brave and the heli ended up in between some cars at work and instead of trying to recover i had to hit the kill switch and the heli was at a angle and 5 feet up.

bent main shaft, bent spindle, bent tail boom, bent alloy blade grip, bent flybar, bent alloy landing gear stuts, bent skids, broken flybar paddle, broken plastic ball link, broken servo, broken chassis set and a ding in my blades and bent the lipo battery like a banana.

good news is the blades will live lol, bent the blade grip back as well i bent the landing struts back, even the lipo got bent back, had a spare align tail boom that i cut down to fit, straightened the flybar, had a spare mainshaft, spindle, skids, ball link, chassis set, and the original orange flybar paddles waiting and installed.

took 5 hours to rebuild her but shes airworthy as we speak, even the lipo recharged as normal.

all in all im so glad i got this heli. [besides how good it flys] it took less the 20 bucks to get it in the air again lol

I'm more than impressed with this little beast, MY dad got jealous and ordered one. My first wrek happened practicing spin ups and downs I finished about 5 mins successfully then put my throttle hold on and approached the heli and for some stupid reason while reaching for my battery plug my other hand turned off the TX even after reading a 1000 times the start up and shut down procedure. Don't think I'll forget now! I think Im only down a ball link main gear and a 1-way bearing maybe a belt for good measure. Im thinking about getting the dx6 is there any draw backs to it, I had a feeling the radio would be an issue due to where I live and it is I live near 3 factorys and 2 distribution centers and a rail yard right between sat and sunday it worked awesome but so far this week tons of glitching just tiny little twitches, Id like to take the stock raido and set it up on a plane I could use at my grand mas house she lives in tim-buk-too.

good stuff for the novice and expert alike...I know I need some help
..and no,I haven't read them all but the look really informative,

Scootist ,
There are some drawbacks to the DX6. The biggest for Helis would be the 3 point pich and thoddle curves most helis use 5 points. Another would be that If you decide latter to get into bigger Helis the DX6 is not recommended(its intended for park fliers. I would go with the DX7 or Futaba 6EX.

did notice this heli does not like a loose belt. with a loose belt there was some tail wagging right to left.

i did 2 battery packs tonight before i tightened it, i did spin up and it seems to be better so we,ll see

Well I know I'll want to get into bigger helis later so thanks for the advice, I'll have to save up a little more. The weather is so wet here now I'm thinking I just want to upgrade the radio so I can learn to do all the programing and setup of the heli so when I do start to crash and burn I won't be going to school, less down time. When I order my radio Im going to get some tools too like blade balancer, and pitch gauge what are some other things that will be needed to build helis later down the road? Your suggestions are verry much appriciated thanks.

sounds like a good list but fortunately I have not had much building to do. Sounds like something that would be good to do.

I might get a 450 kit and give it a shot. Not right now though as I want some more flight time first.

Re: How to use a pitch gauge?

Bought a new pitch gauge and want to be sure I know how to use it...
are these the steps?...fire up TX...plug in battery...set TX for throttle
hold...slip pitch gauge over blade and tighten to conform to blade
shape....set throttle to various throttle settings (off, half and full) and measure
pitch on gauge....to measure pitch at each throttle setting you must level the flybar

Re: How to change pitch of blades?

Are these the steps?..the pitch settings are adjusted with the TX....fire up TX..
.plug in battery...set TX for throttle hold...follow instructions/steps under "No 4." on
page 10 of the TX manual...sounds easy...but here's what I don't understand...will
adjusting the "A" and "B" potentiometers on the lower right side of the TX change
the pitch a various throttle settings?....I guess it will, but just to check...

Re: Pitch settings for a Noob Trying to Hover?

Any recommendations on the above question?...I find myself shutting off the
throttle when I get in trouble (or think I am) and the Heli takes a hard landing..
I'm thinking that less negative pitch at 0 and 25% might be better, with some
minor positive pitch at 50%...and finally, and can you set pitch for several throttle
settings like 0-25-50 (half)-75-100%?

Thanks in advance fro any input on the foregoing questions...John H. 450 SE

that is the correct way to check the pitch and set the pitch. the A &B tune the pitch not the throttle. I always give a little thorottle right before landing if it is going to be a hard one.

does that mean the pitch degrees verses where the throttle stick is from low to high?

i can see why they put 310,s on these stock. i went out today and did my first FFF with the 450se i have align composite 315,s and going straight up or out at full throttle the motor bogs down quite a bit. im not sure if this is normal but it doesnt matter the heli flew great! maybe its the battery thats the weak link not sure. it sure feels good after 2 months of hovering and rebuilding to get some real air time

this heli flew so clean and perfect it reminded me of when i pulled it out of the box straight from mikes place

SteveCink,
Yes it does. As the throdle stick is moved up the pitch and throttle are advanced(in normal mode in idle up its a bit differnt) the amounts of throttle and pitch change is determined by the thottle and pitch curve.

Hi EA...quick question on adjusting the pitch-throttle curve on the stock TX...
can you make all the adjustments (say to multiple throttle positions) at once..
or do you have to make them one at a time, saving each throttle position and
blade pitch, before going to the next...thanks, JMH

jmhh,
I dont know how to adjust the stock radio, I also would not recommend it. If my Black Hawk was any indication its setup perfect for a beginer right from KA-Planes. You are going to have to learn not to just chop the power right off. If you have any amount of air under the Heli it will drop like a stone when you chop the power , learn to easy her down even when things start to go wrong. Just be sure that if it does tip to the point where you are going to have a blade strick you do shut her completely down.
Bottem line i think that if you change the stiock settings you are just going to introduce more problems than you started with.

Good Luck and Good Flying
Brian G

on the stock TX your going to have something like -10 +10 in idle up mode and in normal mode you will have anywhere from -2 to +10 if you want you could adjust it too 0 to+10 in normal mode. if im rite you can adjust the high and low in idle up and normal mode and thats about it. i dont think your going to get a perfect throttle curve out of the stock TX, it does work fine though and im switching back to stock from a dx6

I will be buying a heli in the very near future.. I'm torn between the black hawk and the Belt-CP.. I like the black hawk.. and I really like the fact that Mike sets each one up and makes sure it's flight ready before it leaves his store.. but it is $100 more than the Belt Cp.. If any of you guys have flown both could you compare the 2 for me? are common parts that are available for the trex able to be usedon the black hawk ( I know it's not 100% compatable) mainly the parts that get damaged in a crash (I'm new to helis so crashing is going to be a familiar thing)

Also, does the ESC on the black hawk have a low voltage cutoff to help save the lipo? Does it have soft start? is it programmable?

thanks in advance.....
