I'm looking to get into a larger heli, currently have a 4-channel Walkera DF#4 clone and want to step up to something I can take outside instead of keeping myself in the basement or garage or hoping/waiting for 0 wind days.

I have been using RG 3.5 as well which has helped and wonder about this BH450 ... how are they outside?

they fly very good outside and are stable. a 450 can be hovered in a garage but flying outside is a 450s strong suit

I ordered one yesterday from Ka-planes, very anxious to receive it!

What (if any) initial setup is required?

Is there an exact model or a real close one for Realflight 3.5?

You should be set to go. Charge the battery and install the blades. Some guys like training gear to start out like hte pics that is shown on another link or two.

Thanks Helihap, I don't think I will use the training gear ... as they caused balance issues on my 300 size 4 channel heli and I've gotten good at flying without them.

I did a lot of practicing over the weekend on RF 3.5 with t-rex models and am anxiously awaiting the BH's arrival.

I'm going to want to get some different blades as I bet the wooden one's won't last too long [:)]

Are there common parts on these (that break or easily break) that I should try and have on-hand?

Blades, shaft between main blade grips, paddle balance bar, maybe skids and chassis base if you bring it high up and land hard on a hard surface.

Thanks PaulLee, are these some of the items that are interchangable with the T-Rex?

Just to confirm the parts you suggest are;


  • Blades
  • Shaft between main grips = "Spindle Shaft HP03-M011" ?
  • Paddle balance bar = "Stabilizer set HP03-M008" ?
  • Skids = HP03-M003
  • Chassis base = HP03-P004


Do you agree?

YAY, I received my BH 450 RTF today from KA-Planes.com and cannot wait to try it out!

Charging the lipo up now :-)

Thats the hard part. flying a beautiful bird that you dont want to crash. At least thats my issue until my skills get better.

You are a very patient man and that should be of help in learning to fly. I fly in the evenings often when the sky is calm and the sun is not as blinding.

Anyone know if Helipro has any plans on a 600 or 550? a 500 just doesnt seem like a very big jump from 450 and I already have 2 450s.

I'm having some issues with mine, the tail servo does not seem to be able to stop the heli nose from spinning left.

I have emailed Mike at KA-PLanes and am awaiting a response.

Things worked fine yesterday (the first day of spin-ups and attempted flights) but today, with no changes it's not working correctly?

Does anyone here have any suggestions?

I had the same problem. Mike suggested checking the tail to be sure that it was perfectly vertical. mine was off a bit due to a couple of hard landings (it doesnt take much). that helped , I also noticed that if I centered the trim before connecting the battery and retrimed it after spooling up a bit it helped. Eventualy I replaced the gyro while I was doing some other upgrades and havent had any problems.

Thanks man, mine turned out to be the tail blade holder piece (that has the allen screws) had come loose. Once I re-tightened them up, the gyro was able to hold the tail steady and I got some more basement hovers in.

I want to get outside, but am a little nervous even though I am doing much better in Realflight now and think I can control this heli much easier to bring it back to the patio to land safely ... I think I will try before sundown.

Well, I did get some hovering in outside yesterday evening and wow ... man this heli is super stable and a rush to fly!!!!

I took a couple pics with my cell phone of the arsenal and the sweet BH450;
