I have been reading the last few posts and I was curious about blade tracking/ allignment. Can someone enlighten me as to exactly what thats all about. Im new too and like to learn. The only thing I have checked since a few crashes is my pitch. I put a pitch gage on 1 blade and look at it straight on to see if its level with the flybar when the sticks are in the center. Motor unhooked. Then I check the other blade to see if its the same. If not I adjust accordingly. Is blade tracking something different than what Im describing?? If it its how do you check and adjust??If one blade is lower than the other in a horizontal plane how to get them even? Is this what blade tracking is?

i use a balancing box and sometimes the blade requires some balancing tape - its pretty wild how little tape it takes to balance a blade. sorry i only can respond to balancing though

all blades must be balanced, no exception. tracking is done while flying in a hover, look at the blades and see if one is higher then the other. using the pitch guage first to get it as close as possible before the hover.

parts i go through the most [on my SE] [and i go through them] above all landing gear!!! i use the alloy ones and bend them back when i wreck, keep plenty of skids as well. main, feathering and tail shafts. keep a few of the plastic bottom frame plates too 3 bucks each no biggie. main blades i like the align 315 plastic composite ones because i beat the heck out of em and get about 10 wrecks plus before replacement. youll need atleast 1 tail boom. tail blades for a beginner i like the gorrila gear because there soft and take allot of abuse. the stock orange BH tail blades im still running and there even better for what its worth. [i cant kill them]

I just got through hovering 2 packs without a wreck whoo hoo LOL. I did notice when hovering head height that I could see 2 blades (one higher than the other) It appears that the blades are not tracking in the same horizontal plane. How do I correct this? It seems to hover ok with minimal stick movements thought. Also when I punch the throttle the rear tail wants to spin around some. Copter pointing straight away (12 o clock position) when hitting the throttle its at about 10 o clock. How do I keep the tail to hold better when punching the throttle. Do I increase the gain? IF so how do I do that?
Thanks for all the help.

srouthouse,
As I understand it CF Blade are rarely out of balance (out of four sets I've used none have required adjustment).

yes, the manufacturing of these makes them very similar in balance within very good tolerance. An out of balance wood can make tracking very much off. Sometimes it takes a lot of off balance to make a difference.

Ok, I've just finished reading this whole thread, as well as the original BH thread.

Ahh, I've already learned a lot.

Has ANYONE ever bought the 450Z??

I can see its basically the same metal and carbon components as the 450SE, but with the cool canopy AND the DX6 system AND nicer Gyro.

Looks like that system is 199, (MIke seems to have JUST pulled the same on the DX6 for 160 and he pulled that combo on the HB 500 with tthe DX6 as well)

You lose the Wyfly TX and RX and gyro, 9 (-90 value) and (-30 value) but you gain the DX6 TX and RX (+200 value) and the YTelebee Gyro (+65 value)

SO, if that 450Z system is 200 more, and a couple of you guys are upgrading the SE to DX6, then why not just pay the 200 and get tthe DX6 already fully setup with the nicer gyro for this heli???

Seems like a better value. Maybe I'm thinking about that wrong, or maybe I'm putting too much value on having it come RTF out of the box ready to go.

I saw someone saying they put DX6 in and had trouble cause it wasn't set up. With the 450Z, Mike will deliver it to you set up and ready to go.

from the DX6 settings I have seen on other heli threads, it doesn't appear to be nearly as complicated as the DX7.

the dx7 gives you the extra channel as well 5 point throttle curve. the dx7 also takes all of the RX,s as where the dx6 only takes the ar6000. theres also a ton of info and help on the dx7 your almost on your own with the dx6. i almost have it completly down but its taken a few months to get it all and im about 90% on it.

rhizzle i bought all my stuff at different times, and no one here has reported on the upgraded se.

bigair the tail wont hold with the stock gyro and servo and if the heli gets to far away from you it will be very hard to get it back because when you throttle up to do anything the tail takes off on you. i installed a logitech 2100t and the 9650 on the tail and it was rock solid even when bogging the motor down in FFF. i just took all the fancy stuff off the BH and put it on the trex and now i just found a replacement 2100t on craigslist for 55 and i will put it on with a HS81 servo and the wfly TX/RX and see how that goes.

EA the worst set of unbalanced blades ive had were the real carbon fiber blades. [7 large thick nail polish stripes off] the align composites have been the closest rarely needing more then just the tracking tape, there not good performers but great for learning FFF and hovering as there forgiving with ground scrapes.

big air if the blades are close within 1/8" no biggie just fly it as long as theres no vibrations. read and watch finlesses video at helifreak on tracking.

fredd the alloy arm on the blade grip can be bent for small adjustments and i have only done it because its been bent so many times in wrecks. i dont reccomend it as its to easy to do it rite.

only adjust 1 blade for tracking or you will chase yourself. the top link on the blade grip will get you close when youve gone 1 turn to far stop and go down below and adjust the bottom link which will result in the equivalent of 1/2 turn on the top link
