Yeah, which is the way it seems to me to happen ... and just keeps blowing my mind more and more.

I'll be home in an hour or so to look and will comment then also.

ea01bg -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/12/2007 11:25:33 PM)

Mini Cwik,
I had a hard time with it drifting a bit after a crash, I had one form a Trex I was working on so I just changed it out. During the same tme mike suggested checking that the tail hadnt twisted at all it had move a bit and I straightened it so I'm not sure if the gyro was the problem. Later (after the rest of the parts arrived0 I put that gyro on the trex and have been trying to get the setup right, The tail seems to be holding fine but I havent done more than some short hover / hops.

MiniCwik -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/13/2007 1:54:30 AM)

Does anyone know how to remove the tail hub from the shaft???

I need to get that off to replace a part that broke and removed the grub screw but it's not budging ... help?

Spoke with Mike at Ka-Planes, who thinks that my gyro is bad and is sending me a new one ... through testing the tail pitch yoke plate (with the eye bolts) broke so I am needing to replace that - HP05-P018 is the P/N. Mike is a great guy and I highly recommend him, his service is A+!

ea01bg -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/13/2007 2:10:39 AM)

This might help

MiniCwik -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/13/2007 2:45:51 AM)

I have the manual to see how it goes together, but how do you get that dang hub piece off?

There is loctite down in there ... do I heat it up to loosen it?

MiniCwik -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/13/2007 3:08:41 AM)

OH nevermind, my bad ... I got it ... put a little butane to it and wallah it practically fell off.

Thanks bro!

TomOver -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/13/2007 3:21:21 AM)

That was a good idea, I will have to keep that in mind. That was for thread-tite not CA correct?

MiniCwik -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/13/2007 3:27:21 AM)

Correct TomOver I have a small butane torch and just hit it for a few seconds and it was off like gravy :)

Can't wait to get the gyro replacement and tail pitch replacement and get this heli airborne [:D]

TomOver -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/13/2007 7:32:15 PM)

thanks I will try that on metal parts the next time I need to.

PaulLee -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/13/2007 10:47:03 PM)

use CA releaser spray for CAd parts

Helihap -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/14/2007 1:10:20 AM)

Gyros are definitely a key factor and I think a good one is very important. Futabas and Telebee/Align are a couple of the well known ones.

TomOver -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/15/2007 12:16:52 AM)

Agree, but what were you responding to?

MiniCwik -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/15/2007 12:59:28 AM)

Has anyone gone through tail pieces quickly? I've snapped tail blade grip (tips) and the pitch piece that has the eyelets connected to it.

Is there a T-rex compatible replacement? Or a metal upgrade for these pieces?

I'm waiting on a replacement gyro from Ka-Planes and will have it all working soon ... and cannot wait!

TomOver -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/15/2007 1:05:03 AM)

the pitch slider on the metal tail also has the plastic that the eyelets screw into. You could replace the tail assy with an all metal rex one. However, once you get this thing going you should be ok.

MiniCwik -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/15/2007 1:20:50 AM)

Thanks TomOver, I was considering an all metal Rex one, but that would be an entire changeover and a little costly.

I hope these pieces last a little longer now that I should have the piro'ing issue worked out with a new gyro :)

MiniCwik -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/15/2007 6:42:57 PM)

Woo Woo!

I received my much needed items from Mike @ Ka-Planes, talk about record time I just spoke with him late Friday and here they are already

I will be getting them installed (Telebee gyro & Pitch piece HP05-P018) when I get home tonight and will update you guys then.

Thanks!
Mike

MiniCwik -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/16/2007 2:37:52 PM)

Alright!

I got the tail pitch piece installed, loc-tited everything back together and let it sit for a few hours last night.

Then went into the basement and got some really good hovering and basic back and forth flights in my basement. [:D]

I will get more air time outside tomorrow since it's supposed to be really nice weather here and I took the day off to enjoy it.

I'll also be dialing the gyro in more, as in getting the tail stops to be super crisp in all directions. Right now, it is crisp when I swing the tail left/nose right but when I swing the tail more than just a small amount to the right/nose left there is a delayed response before it stops. Which to me isn't a big deal, but I will work on getting rid of it for a little bit.

Big thanks to Ka-Planes for the support and excellent service!

Helihap -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/16/2007 5:03:06 PM)

Good job. Enjoy as much as I do.

MiniCwik -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/16/2007 5:12:08 PM)

Thanks, I sure hope to ... need to get outside and get some flying in. I am nervous about doing so, but I am sure the hours on the sim and flights with the 4ch FP will help :)

I'm waiting on an all metal tail for the T-rex 450, and then I will paint my canopy as well [8D]

ea01bg -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/16/2007 11:16:54 PM)

MiniCwik,
I look forward to hearing how well that tail fits and works. Sounds like a good upgrade option. I finally got some stick time in today. We have had nothing but wind and rain for a week. I started doing some slow forward flight! Another 50 or so flights and I’ll be able to tell people I fly RC helicopters instead of I crash RC helicopters.

MiniCwik -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/17/2007 6:35:14 PM)

Thanks, it will likely be here on either Friday or Saturday.

USHobbySupply.com is a great online store for great deals! I've gone with him almost exclusively and he's exceeded all of my expectations!

I hope to get it installed this weekend or first thing next week, I will surely post pics and feelings on the new tail setup.

I'm going to get some stick time in this afternoon and over the weekend and hope to get the nerves up to start FF and large circles as well. This is one awesome heli!!!

PaulLee -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/19/2007 1:24:13 AM)

should be good fit and change out.

MiniCwik -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/19/2007 6:15:45 PM)

Should arrive today, not sure that I will be able to do the swap today ... but will report on it's progress as soon as I get it done.

Dang wind is so strong here yesterday, today, supposed to be windy all weekend too [:(]

MiniCwik -> RE: The Better HeliPro Black Hawk (10/19/2007 9:00:28 PM)

Got the new tail installed, looks great and performs even better!

No more worries about broken plastic pieces, this thing is solid and is very well made.

Super easy install and love it and the new gyro!!!
