Helihap -
The FS8 for use on eCCPM requires replacing the rec. in the Blackhawk for the one that comes with the FS8. You order a crystal to match the freq. your tx is on. Seems to be a good rec., but is 3 times the size. Also has a small control panel that has to be mounted somewhere. Lotta stuff to hang on a 450 size heli. As I said before, I still don't have it working right.

thought about it but didn't indulge. I am doing good with this helicopter and can't risk another thing to think about, at least not right now.

sort of a bummer that winter is approaching but there is always warm clothes. How do the motors and electronics perform when its real cold outside???

Seems like they would be ok considering other electronics that maintain their utility and prob runs cooler. There may be some RF drift but not sure on that either.

Yes, winter is definitely knocking on the door here in MI ... I finally got the Spectrum lipo battery monitor installed and got some flights in this weekend, yesterday evening was great with little to no winds but temps were in the low 50's to upper 40's with the sun going down, now an hour earlier (time change bs).

I hope I will be able to fly outdoors until it gets into the 30's because I don't know that I will be able to wait until Spring to fly [:o]

But man the heli flew great yesterday, it's really a sweet bird! I received my Pro-Line Assault canopy and hope to get it painted and mounted soon. It's definitely not as bulky as the stock one, not sure if that's a good or bad thing yet.

i just got the BH450se from mike showed up in 2 days and a follow up email. great service and his parts are cheap.

i have a question regarding the charging. my rtf came with a charger and balancer am i correct thinking you use both at once???

no he believes the one with the light is faster but it is not a balancer so he throws that one in. I alternate between the quicler charge and the balancer. Sometimes I just use the balancer/charger. They both charge the batteries.

another quick question. the blades hit the ground and power was cut. i lost a half inch to a inch of the woode blades on both sides it pushed the motor back in its mounts instead of stripping the main gear. i have new blades and the motor is remounted properly and now when i turn the heli on the servos will move but now i get no power to the blades at all. is this normal for such a small oops??? and what is the remedy?

actually 1/2 of wood could be a tough blade strike, good news on the gear not stripping though - some ideas and things to check
does the motor turn when you fire it up?
is the pinion still tight on the shaft and properly seated with the gear teeth?
are the plugs from the motor to the ESC still tight?
if you manually turn the motor does the gear turn?
did you strip the one way bearing inside the main gear?

i just went out with a fully charged battery and it fired up and ran perfect :)

it was running fine before the crash and i charged the battery for 30 minutes with the balancer so go figure.

oh well all is good now. the heli held up good for a small crash.

on a side note now im using the trex 315mm plastic blades and i think they will hold up a little better then the cheap woodies

I too had a blade strike last night, what's with that?

Anyway, I was playing around with piro'ing a little and I think the radio glitched on me and then being that I was in my basement I didn't have much room for error and the blades struck a PVC downpipe and shattered both of them. I was powering it down and nothing else appears to have been affected, so I will pickup new blades today and learned a lesson ... if flying in a basement or other confined space, don't try and do too much [:D]

that is what is good about woodies- if they were carbon the impact would have transfered the energy/damage to other parts of the helicopter va wood just splits or breaks.

what is the trick for powering up the blades. i start my radio with the throttle down and throttle trim down and
sometimes the servos will move but the main motor wont power up?

man this heli hovers easy im green as can be and i took off and landed 10-15 times on pavement without a blade strike.

my only other issue is sometimes the heli looses rear rotor controls completly before i try and fly it. i wiggle wires and it connects.

in flight it glitches real bad [maybe every 2 minutes] and the whole flight changes and its hard to control to the ground but ive made it.

I used to over burn LIPO batteries before I learned the difference to NiCads and had power issues until I realized that I over discharged them and needed a new batt. Also, make sure there is not a lot of electronics, pumps, motors etc nearby that can cause rf interference.

i think its more then that as it wont start all the time at home to, same with the rear rotor. never flown at home so i dont know about the in flight glitch,s

he first wanted just to return it and send me a new heli but im kinda attached lol to this one.

well i did figure it out, there was a intermittent short in the rear tail control servo. with the radio off i wiggled the servo wire and the main blades fired up and it ran across the floor into my swamp cooler in the basement and broke the rear tail plastic pitch slider scuffed up my new main blades and rear blades and who knows what else.

im bummed, but glad it didnt come in my direction or it would have cracked/cut me hard with those composite align blades

Ouch is right and yeah, that radio TX needs to be on to prevent that ... I even use throttle hold/cut when working on things.

now its back to the drawing board.

if i powered the copter up first then the remote would that cause the rear tail servo not to function?
