I ordered a new motor for the Black Hawk and the right spindle shaft...Ka-Planes was out of stock on them...so I had to go some where else I felt like a traitor
Here are pictures of my new canopy for the TRex...I have flown all weekend. We have had great weather so far.

Ok I am niew to this whole electric thingy. Someone want to tell me what and how brushless motors are rated? What the heck is a KV? I thought it was kilovolt hehe

Thanks

the kV stands for RPMs per volt.
Multiply this by the ratio of pinion and main-gear teeth and then multiply by efficiency and you will get head speed.
For example...I run on my TRex the 430XL rated at 3700KV with a 12 tooth pinion
So a 3700kV motor at 11 volts will spin at 3700x11=40700rpms.
So (40700 x 12tooth pinion / 150Main gear tooth count) x .80 (80% efficiency) = 2604 rpms

Edit...this would be at 100% throttle with 0degrees pitch...no force on the motor other than the weight of the head and blades

Wow, that is a bit compicated lol. Why can't they just assume 11 volts and give us the rpms? lol How do you figure what amperage esc to pair with a motor?

Well...because some motors can be run with 4s lipos which is 14.8 volts...or 2s lipos which is 7.4 volts...or 3 s lipos which are 11.1 volts....Some motors are run not only in helis but in planes and some in cars as well, so it would be easier to figure rpms based on voltage speed. At least that is my guess.
Most descriptions on the motors give you the max amperage. So if it says max 26 amps...you get a 25 amp ESC

HeliTubbies...you are addicted!
So the Black Hawk is back up and flying! woo hoo
Now if the winds will go away....and I can get out of just hovering in my rec room...I will be able to let you know how the new motor works...
It feels much better...higher head speed so better cyclic control already...I am dying to try it in idle up and see if it will respond better...I am hoping to use the BH as my trainer/beater heli...
Maybe in the morning I will be able to get out and fly before work...if so I will report back and let you know how the new set up works.

move the Hurricane 550 up to the top of that list and you'll start thinking of selling the smaller ones..

Found I had a tracking problem on the BH450 that was causing me a terrible vibration...I had a heck of a time diagnosing it...so I broke down the head and started from scratch basically and went uup from there...it looks like I have the problem solved and I will be going out to test the new set up here in a few minutes...I can hardly wait actually! The higher head speed is nice. It gives much better cyclic control, at least inside my rec room, so I can hardly wait to try it out side.

Welcome new people, just want to drop off and say that My Helipro Black hawk 500 gp is up and flying, been a while and busy lately but got the chance to get the heli flying.
Acually I gotten hobby town to program my dx6i and to work on my heli since I'm a bit busy. I got it back few days ago. Got her flying but roughly, so i disconnect the
exhost line that connects the muffler to my tank. I notice my engine run better. Sound crazy but its true. Last Thursday, while hovering, my radio system got a bit out of
wack and heli flew away from me and hit a van. And the owner was inside the van. LOL Anyways nothing broken just the receiver tray. Darn... But I glued it in place.
Flew today and it flies steady as a rock. I'm about to receive my parts for my bh450 and <
