yep.. got mine RTF.. http://flying-hobby.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=3_30_36&products_id=2171 that's what I got.. except mine has DS821 servos instead of that no name brand it has now.. I also swapped the motor for the ZPower Z20a-980.. much easier on the lipos.. if you do get one that's RTF from flying hobby.. make sure you tell them to NOT assemble it.. they're good a selling, not so good at putting them together

Wooooh! i know people are crashing their BH but why retire or sell it ...hmmmmm.. sooner or later this thread would be over .. lol

I crashed my BH yesterday morning.. i was hovering and it started drifting to the side due to sudden breeze, i panicked and over compensated.. bent spindle shaft, bent flybar rod and a scratched main blade.. good thing i have plenty of spare parts courtesy of gazaur.. fixed it last night

oh it's not the Black Hawks fault... it's really a great heli..but if you had a 550 sized heli that was 10 times as stable as the BH... and was 10 times easier to see in flight...which would you spend money on first? the BH will get fixed.. and the gyro will get replaced.. of course, replacing the gyro will be the part that takes the longest.. and when it happens, it'll be because I'm replacing the gyro on my 550. thinking that the JR7703D would be a nice addition to the 550...and then I could take my Gaui gyro and put it on the BH

I have the CF Hurricane.. and run a pair of 2200mah 25c lipos.. I can run 6 minutes. this is with the Z20a-980 motor.. the stock motor has plenty of power for 3D.. including hard 3D.. but it's a power hog and 2200 lipos won't last long.. maybe 3 minutes and their life will be real short.

as promised... here's pics

notice the main shaft sheared right above the bearing.

gyro case separated on impact

broken links and main shaft

the canopy is shot...

landing gear has seen better days.. notice the dental floss and CA repair from a previous opps.. might just do the same thing again..

what isn't seen in the photos is the gears inside the servos... all 3 cyclic servos are dead. 2 are clicking badly, one is completly seized.

the tail boom doesn't look that bad, but it is bent downward a bit.. enough to not fly it. the fly bar I straightened by hand, but it'll be replaced since I ahve spares.

Kaelan,
I'm running the GY401 on my Hurricane 550 , Holds the tail like its in a vise I'm putting the same on the Trex 600CF I'm building. If you want longer run times without breaking the bank check out the 3300 mah zippy batteries at hobbycity. Ive been running a couple pair and get 10min flight times.

I also crashed my BH My fault. I took it out of the air wolf fusalage and forgot to locktight the tail screws. All 3 came out on the first flight. completely lost comtrol of the tail and it spun into a tree. CF Blades trashed, tail case screws MIA, tail actuator MIA,feathering shaft bent and a few broken control links. She will fly again but not until next year. I've spent what budget I had on the Trex. The BH will have to wait for winter repair and then maybe Sale or wait for occasions when I have limited flying space. Its size would make it easy to have in the car.

Well, it seems folks are crashing these things left and right. Mine's still up, so here are some photos for you guys!
Tom

Oh...don't worry about the misalignment of the head and linkages...they've been straightened since these were taken.

your BH is looking good! as far as crashing goes.. my Dad was out there that day watching me fly.. it was a first for him (he's 78 not many first left for him).. he kept telling me how sorry he was that I crashed... I told him not to worry about it.. I know I wasn't.. and crashing is a part of the hobby... if I got upset each time I crashed.. I would have given up on the hobby long ago.. At least my dad was impressed with how detailed the mechanics are on these things.. and he got to see first hand that they might be small... but they sure are fast.

so far on my BH... I have replaced the main shaft, fly bar, and spindle... it's looking like a heli again.. I'll give the landing gear another "cast" of dental floss and CA.. might as well do the other side too just so it matches (and give it some extra support).. then it'll wait until I order 3 cyclic servos, some links, canopy and possibly a gyro... of course I could just stick the bust canopy on it and tell everyone it's for extreme cooling

I believe the CNC parts originally for the BH were blue... then they switched to silver.. I like the silver better, looks less like a Trex.. I do like that tail unit... looks a lot stronger then the CNC unit that came on my 450se

finally finished investigating the black hawk look-alike and these are the facts:

Finally finished the research on the helicopter question a few weeks ago that I ordered parts for via request on RCU.

There is a helicopter on the market called the Golden Eagle which has been re-branded as the Black Hawk to stimulate sales. It is a fine helicopter with some of the guts of the Black Hawk 450SE but it is different and should retail for quite a bit less than the authentic HeliPro Black Hawk 450SE fully tested RTF. I can service these with no problem if one cannot get support elsewhere.

Golden Eagle ........Black hawk 450SE
Main frame Glass fiber ...... Carbon fiber
Rotor head bell-hill look-alike ..... T-Rex type
Main blade wood ...... wood + carbon
Stabilizer Glass fiber ....... Carbon fiber

Best Regards,
Mike Sr.

Did everyone know that the protech Zoom 450 is on the cover of Helimagazine?? Protech has a heli called the Zoom 425ep pro that resembles the BH se. They look Identical, the protech 450 is identical to the 500 BH.
